Too bad there's no fucking second analog stick. I love Sony but this is just idiotic.

I'll truly believe it until I officially see it because all I gotta say is "WHY SONY...WHY". As cool as the concept is it's unnecessary at this time. It better damn well still support UMD's, oh and cue second analog stick whiners in 3...2...
I beat you to it :). (The whining that is)

Also, theres no UMD Drive [http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/05/30/1924254]. I wonder if Sony will ever drop pricing on their games (HA!).
Well if this is true (like I said I will believe it when I SEE it, yea I'm one stubborn skeptic) they better not stop UMD production because I fucking hate digital only BS. Although i have no doubt in my mind that they will just stick with the while digital AND UMD distribution...then I have no qualms with SONY. I like to physically own my games, and I don't wanna spend money on memory sticks (16gigs can hold MOST of my collection at least) AND games.

Wow! Could Sony actually be making a handheld that is meant for, dare I say it, for games?!?!
I knew it was only a matter of time before one of you people showed up...*shakes head*

They said in the video they are not stopping production of UMD nor the PSP 3k which plays them.

This thing is so damn full of fail... Oh my god.
Care to elaborate? It sure looks like a better upgrade than the DSi...
it looks like an abortion of plastic. ya the specs are good, but its probably really awkward to hold
I dunno. The way it's shaped makes me think it'd hold like a SNES controller. I guess the real question is how topheavy it is... that could really suck. But I imagine it's probably pretty light.

Hm...that looks alot like a new phone. Just with the PlayStation buttons. The screen, though, looks much bigger...so long as the whole thing didn't just get smaller.

Why in the name of all Japan is it not a clamshell?

Surely it's obvious to those over paid dolts at Sony that the screen on that thing is going to get obliterated. I mean they've four years experience with the PSP already.
Anyway, aside from that I still think it's a design disaster, it seems to be creating more problems whilst addressing none of the existing ones. It doesn't present a useful reduction in size whilst (presumably) losing UMD capability (not that it'll be missed), the stick placement is still terrible and doubt there'll be some hideous arbitrary software on it to make doing anything interesting with it impossible. The screen doesn't look much bigger than the old one either, which is quite impressive if you think about it.

Having said that the inclusion of a hold button's interesting, maybe increased use as an mp3 player? I still think it's bad piece of design though.

And you said it wouldn't be real...

No it won't support UMDs, but developers don't like them, so all they have to do now is compile the game into a .PBP executable, so there may be more games for the PSP in the future

Another device for the DS to demolish, woot!
But I've always thought that the PSP is better than the DS, and I love my little red block of fun. The main reason the DS gets more sales is that it attracts a wider market of casual gamers, which was actually a good marketing strategy on Nintendo's part.

The 'Hold' button's been on there since the 1000 model, it's what freaking broke my PSP (it kept thinking that the Hold switch was on)

One thing I'd be willing to accept is if there was some means to allow UMD owners to legally make images of their games to put on the device. Hell I'd buy it if it was cheap and sony came with a means of UMD conversion. I'd still have my 2000 as a back up and my UMD's as back ups as well. I will admit it would be rather convenient to have all your games on you memory sticks/internal memory for on the go purposes and have your UMD's sitting at home just in case.

Oh please! Why does Sony keep trying!? They know DS is more popular, advanced, and better. I hope that rumor of Microsoft buying out Sony comes true.

Dear Sony: Stop releasing new psp models with slightly upgraded specs and just accept your annihilation at the hands of the homebrew community.

Huh, guess what IGN posted was true.

I may get it depending on the specifics like price and such since I'm going to get a PSP sometime soon anyway.

And to everyone saying that it's ugly; seriously? I remember when I saw a fan mock-up of the PSP Go! and it looked nearly exactly the same except with the shoulder buttons on top of the screen and everyone was going "Wow! I hope it's true!".

Weird...

And from what I've heard, the PSP Go! would be able to play previously owned games if you had a Memory stick with the data on them. At least, that's what I think I heard anyway.
