Here's the thing:

I have done extensive tests between the PSP's UMD and Digital software. What I have found is that games and movies on the PSP are a LOT faster when downloaded digitally than on a physical medium. The loading times are a lot faster, the games have a better frame rate. I mean, it is significantly better than before. I for one, am excited for the PSP Go!. Call me a Sony fanboy, I don't care. I, for one, like the idea of not paying taxes on a game. Saves money. Also, movies and music. So, yeah, it is crazy that they have it expensive, but I see value in it, oddly enough.

What happened to the old Sony? You know, the one that made the PS2? They need to sit down, pull their heads out their asses and find a way to fix the disasters that are the PS3 and PSP(or the PSP Go now)
I really don't want that Sony back either, nor the one that made the original PS-X. Sony products (including their generic electronics such as TVs and such) have been crap for a very long time. The Playstation is an accidental success that Sony probably attributes to their own marketing savvy, when the reality is simply that their consoles happened to be where the 3rd Party Devs went. Kind of a "if you build it, they will come", whichever console has the 3rd Party games is going to win the so-called "console war".

That's why the 360 is doing so well, it's the new Playstation in that its success has less to do with anything that Microsoft has done, and more to do with the fact that it's the system that the 3rd Parties are developing the most games for.

The PSP go isn't being manufactured right now is it? Please tell me it isn't. Sony should know that this thing has had nothing but bad PR, it's too high of a price for a "downgrade", and hardly anyone is gonna buy it.

Would I be foolish to wait for an announcement saying that the PSP go is "canceled"?

(and then they make the pun PSPNoGo)

So at this point it's simply smarter to buy the 3000 model and get a 16 gb memory?
Basically. OR, buy the PSP 2000 model, since it's cheaper and almost exactly the same. Whatever "screen improvements" were made are hardly noticeable, (My friend owns the 3000, I have the 2000, and the picture quality looks identical to both of us.) and the built-in mic is, as my friend put it, "Crap."

As for the PSP Go, It LOOKS cool. Its not worth the money, OR the money I'd have to spend to be able to play SOME of the games I already have on UMD already. (Ratchet and Clank was great, but not worth buying TWICE. PLUS not all the PSP games are on PSN. Will they be? I don't care!) But, it looks cool, I'll give them that.

I'm happy with my PSP as is. The exclusives are good, and the ports of home console games are OK.

I may actually buy a psp GO. a few reasons. I like that it is smaller especially since I carry my psp-1000 around with me wherever I go (as my mp3 player/remote play/psn ps1 game player/psp game player) the go would probably fit nicely in my jacket inner breast pocket or in my regular pockets.

I like the idea of the 16 GB internal storage that would be a lot of nice room to put my movies and games so I don't have to carry around UMD's. The bluetooth would be really handy especially since I use skype a decent amount and if I can use my bluetooth headset with the psp that opens up alot of possibilities for me using skype in other places.

It is all really going to depend on what they end up working out with the old UMD games and downloading them. Also if I can get games/demos from the japanese/other country psn stores or if they are just going to do like a global psn store.

The price does seem a little high but I would like to see a comparison between component costs/ manufacturing costs of the 2 before I jump on the too expensive bandwagon. Just because it is smaller and looses a UMD drive does not necessarily mean manufacturing costs are cheaper then say the 3000.

As for the person who said Sony TV's are junk they have some of the highest rated HDTV's along with Samsung and Pioneer and the whole time working in GeekSquad the tv's that we probably saw the most of with problems was LG and house brands such as Insignia/Dynex. Personally I own Samsung monitors and would probably buy a Samsung TV but mostly because I have been so happy with their monitors but really depends on what good deals are going on when it comes time to buy one.

Sony has a massive dept problem not surprised the psp go cost loads not like they made much money of the first one.
Foot note it may have sold 50 million units but the profit margin to start with was negative so started on they way down before up so basically the psp hasn't netted Sony much profit.

Apparently they think you're sony's bodyguard.

That and Jumplion WORSHIPS you.
I would't say worship, though I respect him more than most people.

Personally, I'm going to get a PSP sometime anyway, and I'm debating whether to get one now or wait until the Go is released. The main tantilizing things are that is has no UMD so I don't have to lug around all those disks, it has alot of internal memory so I don't have to buy an additional stick, and it doesn't look as bulky or square as the PSP-3000 and therefore easier on my pocket.

Though the main thing that's buging me is the price, so I'm going back and forth to buying a 3000, buying the Go, or wait till the Go drops in price which could be who knows how long.

I do wonder, really... if Sony thought through the market for the PSP properly.

I know that sounds harsh, but i half get the impression they saw Nintendo doing well over the years with the Gameboy and it's billion iterations and thought 'Hey there must be some money in there for us'.

Sony had already had a handheld console.

erm...just a note here. Kaz Hirai said that the PSP Go would sell for the same price as the PSP-1000 did at launch. Your apparent $350 (or £350 if that's what you meant) can't be true for 2 reasons:

A) The PSP-1000 launch price was £180
B) The price in Europe will be the same in the US, ?250, which is actually about £210.

I still think they'll stick with £180 as that was the PSP-1000's launch price if I'm correct, please point out if I'm not.

They've stated that the PSP Go! will cost $250 and 250 Euros at launch, which does seem a bit high for my tastes, though I'm still considering spending it.
