It'll be interesting to see whether they have this slender, willowy female doing the same things physically as the meatheads. Curb stomps? Chainsawing people with a Lancer? Holding up 250+ lb Locust as meat shields?

I know it's not exactly a series known for its realism, but if you're going to have a woman doing brutish things, it's almost more sexist to make the character and have her conform to contemporary senses of attractiveness than to not have her at all.

One of the things I found hilarious about the first game was the sheer size of all the manly, masculine, macho men. During cut-scenes, the guys stand five feet apart during a conversation, just because of their absurd bulk. At least with female characters (who I imagine will be slighter) will be able to stand next to each other.

The series never really had my interest to begin with. More power to the ladies i guess?

I barely played the first two so i probably won't be playing this one, Therefore my opinion is still the same. A big resounding "meh"

I think that series sucks, so it does not change anything for me.
I mean, when my friend wants me to play co-op at his house I am going to be the bezzy "fo' sho'", but still...

I will admit one thing. I'm going to have a hard time bringing myself to chainsaw her in multiplayer. Men are meant to explode into bits, women.. I don't know... so soft and squishy.
I'm pretty sure chainsaws don't really care about your gender. To a chainsaw, everyone is soft and squishy.

Either way, I didn't have any interest in playing it before, and I still don't now, so...

Actually yes, it does make me less interested. I wasn't really interested anyway, but adding a woman to the game seems like arbitrary pandering. I dunno. I see these games as a manly escape into gallons of gore and liquid manliness with testosterone burgers. I can't help but think adding a girl to the game would change that.

I'd be like replacing Bridget Jones with Benjamin Jones. Just doesn't work. I don't object morally. I just think it'll ruin the 'atmosphere'. And if they manlify the woman to match the rest of the game, then what would the point have been?

I can't help but feel a lot of guys here are saying "No, it doesn't matter to me," to express their desire for gender equality.

Well not having an xbox... I don't think I'll be playing the game to much... But the trailer is awesome... As is Dom's beard. I will definetly be visiting my friends house to play some Gears 3 cos the others were good and I hope this one is no exception.
The added Female is a bit weird though... A steroided up super soldier is more of a manly occupation. but she isnt all that big anyway is she? I only watched the trailer once and she's only in for a millisecond anyway.

Not really. I loved the game series for a while now and I'm not gonna change my opinon of it based on someone new they drag in. As long as they have a C. Carmine, I'll be happy.

depends on their reason.

if it's for the sole reason of emancipation than yes.
if for boredom of creating something interesting than no.

sometimes it's about why.

the same as every squadron needs a token black guy....

I don't have a console, but i feel somewhat more intrested now anyway - just because i want to see a walking self-contradiction. A woman as UBER-MANLY as Gears of War requires? Awesome!
Good point. Although I haven't seen the trailer, nor do I care at all about Gears of War on a whole. The only way this could interest me is if the female character had the same obscene amounts of muscle as the men. Then it would be funny for about ten seconds, before boring me again.

I prefer my gears of war with oversized muscles and excessive amounts of testosterone, chainsawing an 8 feet monster in half simply isn't the same if it's a female doing it :)

That said, I wouldn't mind some good looking squad mates, especially if they develop the character properly.

Considering sex appeal was the ONE "must haves in a mainstream game" gears of war didn't have, I now care even less about the franchise.
Come to think of it, I can't remember a single female character in Modern Warfare 2. They even had that chopper pilot you rescue in the first one.

Just seems weirdly unfitting for me. Gears of War is the ultimate "hulking man archetype", but I think they'd only hurt themselves to try to change that. More chainsaws and arm-wrestling is what gives the series its touch.
