You know, I put on the poll that I wouldn't want that kind of thing, but after reading the comments I've changed my mind. When the rumble feature was first introduced, most complained that it would just be uncomfortable and wouldn't add to any immersion. But now so many games use it, that it's actually more distracting when a game *doesn't* use the rumble feedback.

Sounds a bit unnecessary, but I say: Bring on the realism in every way...short of pain and death ofcourse...

How about a controller that shoots you and be dn with the realism?

(that was sarcasm)

No, no I wouldn't like that. Not until they make mice that can do that too...

I would enjoy it.

Scalds and freezes (extremes much?) aside, it'll be just like the rumble function, and not sure if immersion is the right word, but I'm sure it'll be interesting.

Since it doesn't actually scald and freeze, but only changed the temperature like 10 degrees, I'd use it. Not if I had to pay like $50 for it, but I would use it.

Where's the "no, for the same reason that I'd not want to use a controller that realistically simulates the feeling of getting shot every time my character takes a bullet" option? Seriously, there are lots of elements that could add to the immersion of an actual game that I wouldn't want.

Granted, considering the context in which they were making that controller, it's a good idea. But in the context I'd be using a controller... even if it didn't get painfully hot or cold I wouldn't want my controller to change temperatures.

It's good to see them trying to find new idea's that work, this isn't one of them. If it was to make a difference, it wouldn't be by much. I want them to try new things in-game more.

I wouldn't use such a controller as I feel that such a thing wouldn't make the experience better. It would be distracting, and would not help with immersion, it would work against it.

Nuh-uh. Sounds like an absolute battery monster. Either it'd eat AA's like a Hummer eats premium unleaded, or I'd have to plug it in, which simply wouldn't work with the way I've got my console set up.

I would definitely try it. For anyone who says it would be too distracting, remember the first time you used a control that had vibration? Does that distract you at all now or make the game a bit better/more interactive?

Yeah, I would. Just sounds like an extension of the rumble idea to me.

I also want a controller that physically hurts me in a fight and stabs you in the chest me your character dies. It's immersive.

no. o_O 3rd degree burns are frostbite aren't exactly the immersive experiences I'm looking for in my games.

I fail to see how I'm going to get immersed in a game when I'm thinking about what the fuck is going on with my hands.

I still don't see what the fuss about the rumble feature is.

It would just annoy me without adding anything positive (I found the dual-shock controller for the PS2 to be like that, and temperature changes would be even worse if it was cold and I was in a cold area ingame due to my cold sensitivity).

I think I'd have to try it to know for sure.

I don't think I would like it, as it seems it would be annoying, but I would at least give it shot.

Hold on, so this would be like if you catch on fire in game, you could feel it? Or if you go into an ice cave or something, your hands would freeze? That is so awesome. It's like that one vest you can wear so that you'll feel the bullets. This is the kind of stuff we should be working on, not motion controls.

And I'm being completely serious. Especially about the vest. That way, not only is there a penalty for getting shot or killed, you can also tell what direction you're being attacked from.

That sounds...so ridiculous. Doesn't it just sound like the most half-assed gimmick in the world? "The controller CHANGES TEMPERATURE so you can FEEL the ACTION!"

What next? Will they put a tube in gamers' mouths connected to the console with different-tasting sauces, so they can "TASTE the action" as well?
Or a game with sound effects so you can actually hear the acti... wait...

I think I love it because it's so ridiculous. And I know you at least want to try it out.
