I like my hands to be comfortable while playing. If I had a controller like this I would want it to always be set to be a little cool. If it got warmer my hands would get sweaty and too cold would just be distracting.

Play during the summer, turn your AC off during the hot potions of the game and blast it during the cold parts. That would be sightly immersive (especially if you change the color of your lights and have full surround sound).

Warming the controller just sounds excessive and expensive. Might be neat during cold winters as a hand warmer so your fingers don't fall off from a night of cold gaming, but other then that it doesn't sound at all like a practical idea.

EDIT:

That too would work. I think all a heated controller would improve is player comfort levels, not immersion.

I like the parts where it emulates temperatures except the part where it makes the controller too hot or cold. I am on board as long as it doesn't go to extremes like scalding and freezing.

I'm all for incorporating more senses into your gaming experience. It's better than incorporating more limbs...

Judging by the term used, no I would not like to be scalded while playing a game and I'll be surprised if anyone would want to be.

I think feeling the controller get warmer the more you fire a gun would be pretty cool. Same with the heat up/cool down of plasma weapons in the Halo games would be quite awesome. Other than that, not really, no.

I chose no, but frankly a controller that has a self cooling unit, I'd like that for long hours, my hands get all warm and sweaty, and hey, if they can put it into a controller, PUT IT IN THE 360 PLEASE

No, I don't think so. Also the way this question is worded is very misleading. I hardly think anyone would make a controller that would actually burn (or scald) or freeze the player.
But even if it was just a slight warming and cooling sensation, I think that'd be too distracting and it'd effect my ability to play.

I don't see the point. Vibration feedback works because impacts are regular parts of most games and allows the player to get a sense of the sort of impacts hitting your character. But really, who gives a crap about temperature?

To quote James Rolfe, "Temperature is BULL SHIT!"

Seriously. Freezing? Whee, that'll be useful when playing Lost Planet, and...
Well, Lost Planet.

And heat, again, who cares? We've got the impact feedback, so what's the point of heat unless it's a REALLY cold day, you have no gloves, and you're so desperate for warmth that you constantly fall into the flame trap at the end of the Portal testing zone for warmth.

That seems interesting and could help with immersion if it is subtle enough. It would be cool if there was some sort of manual temp. control so that it could help keep your hands from getting sweaty and be usable as a hand warmer.

Sure, why not. In the early days of rumble I thought it was totally useless and distracting, but now I find I miss it when it's not there (or not well implemented). I would imagine this could be good in time given smart usage and quality implementation.
