I find that the "special in-game items" are usually throwaway crap. So I like something physical, like the Batarang that came with Arkham Asylum. Though I rarely pony up for the Uber Special Editions. It's just not worth the extra money.

With special editions I often prefer the games that have unique items.
Batman: Arkham Asylums' goodies were awesome!
I loved the batarang! :D (Or whatever it's called) :p

I voted "Other" because I'm kind of an "all of the above" kind of guy. If the SE doesn't have a lot of really cool extra stuff (see: Arcade stick for Tekken 6, enormous artbook/strategery guide for FFXII) then I just buy the regular edition.

I chose Soundtracks because most games nowadays have an epic soundtrack attached and i love chilling to some music at the end of the day.

Figures/Statues > Artbook > In-Game Items > Soundtrack > Random Items thrown in (maps, keychains, etc.)
This is my scale. I love the statues and stuff like that, if only because I have a love of tangible stuff (I'm one of those people that pays a little extra for a cd over the digital itunes copy, and who will continue to buy games in disc form). However, I absolutely love artwork as well (I used to buy strategy guides back when they actually included a decent amount of art as well, and when they were useful). In game items lots of time become DLC later, so that's less important. Plus I can only use it when playing the game. The soundtrack really depends on the game but it really doesn't make me more likely to pick up the game since I don't know what the soundtrack is before I get the game.

The only special edition I ever bought was LotR:O. Why? It comes with a replica of the One Ring and a cloth map of Middle-earth. That's enough to get my fangirl heart in a tizzy.

I don't buy special editions unless:

A) It was on sale

or

B) It is for something I really, really want to see more behind the scenes stuff for.

I may consider buying a special edition of Inception when it is released here.

I can't recall the last Special Edition I've bought...

the best: t-shirt. i got a pretty bomb ass t-shirt when i bought guild wars factions on the first day. it was too big though. and i lost it. sad day. god damn companies thinking all gaming nerds wear a XXL tshirt! even an xl shirt is too big for me.

anywho: i also like art books and sound tracks.

I like special editions which have collectible toys and models, like my awesome Fallout 3 collectors adition with the bobble head and my Splinter Cell with Sam Fisher figurine. I'm quite a nerd when it comes to gaming memorabilia

Models, statues, plushies or other swag. I'm a sucker for the lil' sackboy in the LittleBigPlanet 2 special edition.

Figurines or something similar (I really wish I had a Fallout 3 Bobblehead), if any. Artwork and soundtracks can always be found somewhere on the internet.

i like to at least get my moneys worth, so its gotta have multiple things. I do like soundtracks/behind the scenes DVDs rather than collectables though, I have a tendency to lose those types of things

Depends on the game for me, although I like pretty much everything listed as long as its quality stuff.
