I didn't find the fan that irritating, and Navi had her uses on my first play through. Slippy, however...

RE5, Not only sheeva was not necessary, she is part of the issue, her AI is...well the worst I have seen lately... (correct me on that Jericho's AI was worse). The only way to propely playing it is in co-op

The companions in Fallout 3. Outside the excort missions I never bothered with companions since they cramped my style.
Even left Dogmeat outside the Vault for the most of the game.
Ninj'd. They do nothing but steal my XP and get killed by my explosives. I even hate having the mysterious stranger. Took that perk once, and never again. "Oh, gee thanks for killing that raider. Don't worry about that Behemoth, I got it. You just relax that tired trigger finger." Taking Jericho out into the Wasteland and getting him killed by Giant Radscorpions is fun, though.

That was the whole point of Sheva; by making a retarded monkey (without the strength) your AI partner, the designers forced you to coerce your friends into buying a copy so you could make it past the opening area on veteran. Seriously, an infinite rocket launcher in my inventory, all guns with infinite ammo, and she still can't kill a few majini while I take care of the executioner?! I never used the "c" word until I played that game.

Ashley from Resident Evil 4.

God, how useless can someone get? Not to mention she just wouldn't shut up. It was like a kid in the back of a car saying "are we there yet?" over and over again.

As far as im concerned, Adoring Fan was annoying, very annoying, so i kept killing him. Even though Navi was an annoying *****, you would be stuck in the game without that useless ball of eredisent blue shit with wings.

So my vote is for the adoring fan, plus i don't think he counts anyways. Isn't a sidekick the 'helper' of the Main Character, through thick and thin like a heterosexual couple?. Like Robin to Batman.

Who the hell would want to get rid of Daxter? He might've been annoying in some parts, but mostly he was just hilarious.

I voted Navi.

I locked the Adoring Fan in that necromancer's tomb in Anvil, that only I or someone of the Benirus bloodline could open. There's only one surviving member of that bloodline. Perhaps I should hunt him down and kill him.

In my humble opinion, none of the games in this list would have been better off without the sidekick! As annoying as the adoring fan was, you could always muck about with him a bit, torture him and then tell him to wait for you somewhere in the wilderness. I personally had him stabled outside my mansion together with my apprentice to greet me when I got home!

Sonic Unleashed would have died a more peaceful death if it weren't for Chip. *shudder*
Some people argue that the Were-Hog is the worst character ever made, but I think he is second to Chip.
