Alyx Vance from Half-Life 2. Because a fucking quantum physicist is too stupid to hack a computer console with a taser. Uhuh, sure... If she actually killed an enemy once in a while and didn't ***** as much, she's be just fine.

Definitely Starfox. Navi was at least helpful sometimes (mostly on one's first ever play through the game), and 'hey', 'listen' can at least be ignored most of the time, and the game doesn't punish you for ignoring her. In Starfox, ignoring Slippy fucks you up.

How does the dog not have many votes? I mean, sure, the adoring fan was annoying, but he wasn't always there. This, however

EDIT: found a better video

The Adoring Fan.
I made a mod that made him respawn once a day and I made him an enemy to all factions.
It had a side-effect of duplicating any items he were carrying, but I never bothered to loot him.

I've encountered a couple of severely annoying sidekicks, but none was as abrasive as Issun from Okami. Issun continually used the same tired insults and descriptions for every character. His character was obnoxious at his best which was further irritated by the terrible dialogue, the way that the voices were done and the frustrating tendency his character had to hit you over the head with exactly what was going on.

Believe me, I thought Okami was a great game, but Okami without Issun might have made my top 10... maybe.

Sheva. She was so useless. They may as well have given me a shopping cart instead. It could have carried all of my bullets too, but without the talking and insisting it's my "partner".

Why the hate for the sdoring fan? I loved him! Of course, I just sort of ordered him to stick around in my house... I kind of pretended he was a slave/torch vending machine.

Once again the poll of the day fails to include the most obvious choice.
Alyx. Fucking. Vance. The worst sidekick in gaming history.

Elika, Price of Persia (2008). The reason for all of the absurd game logic and mundane gameplay. That and I think she affected my sexism in an unhealthy way. The prince wasn't much better himself with all of his terrible dialogue (Nolan North, how could it be?), so maybe it doesn't count. I liked the dog, Daxter and Navi, but have had too little experience with the others.

SHEVA!!! I was looking for this option. Really, terrible AI, and a dumb character.

Hey, listen guys...Navi isn't that bad...

(has no doubt he's been ninja'd, but couldn't resist)

But the Adoring Fan was so fun to knock off the highest cliff in the game, repeatedly.

navi annoyed the piss out of me, but was extremely necessary i suppose. all in all, i think any game that has the sidekick, needs the sidekick for at least story telling purposes. i can't really, off the top of my head, think of one that didn't serve a valuable purpose to the game.
the adoring fan didnt

Oh, Slippy. Just... just no.

So yeah, most definitely Slippy, mostly because he never actually dies, but often wants you to save him. The bastard.

Now it is my turn to tell you I am a bit dissapointed in you, Souplex. Sure, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your opinion and I could actually agree with it, because I consider Alyx to be the most overrated female in gaming ever...
But your post is custom-made to be inflammatory. Saying that it's the "most obvious choice" when I'm sure you know that it's really not, is not particularly nice.
Just saying.
