I'm actually excited for this. I've loved the series so far, and I'm glad they rightfully kept Will and Elizabeth out after their story was over. I'm expecting it to be interesting, funny, and generally good, so long as it doesn't start to retread old ground (which actually hasn't happened much at all over the past 3 movies,) I'll be excited for yet another after this.

This movie actually looks good! Well at least better than the pervious one. The pervious one was just a "meh" movie. But there is one thing I can pretty much tell you that will be great about this movie and that would be the soundtrack and acting.

I don't want to pass judgement, but the third movie was a steaming pile of waste so I'm not hopeful.

I just don't think that Cap'n Jack Sparra is enough to hold up the whole move on his own, but my reasons were included in the post about this yesterday so I don't just want to repeat myself.

I'll probably check this movie out. Am I the only one bummed out that Legolas is out of the film? The whole Elizabeth-Will got old but c'mon he's Legolas.

I think dropping Knightly and Bloom is a good move. The franchise needed a fresh start and this mostly unrelated one should be good.

I just checked Wikipedia.

Apparently there won't be any Pintel and Ragetti or Mullroy and Murtogg! <:(
On the bright side, there will be Penelope Cruz :D

It could go either way
I think that sans-those-characters is in its favor. The two movies that came after the first milked the gags and everthing that made the first movie fun. They over used the side characters and ruined the whole pie. If you remove these gag characters, you give room for new jokes to pop up. :)

I love all the Pirates movies though I do have my doubts about this one. I'm hoping that it's like Curse of the Black Pearl but if they screw up it I'm sure Johnny will at least make it watchable.

Other: Penelope Cruz is a total fox. That is all.
I'm glad we agree on this.

On other topics, it's Captain Jack. The character embodies everyone's glorified vision of a Pirate, and the hijinks he gets up to are carried by that character. It makes what is an action movie comedic, and allows the audience to care for the character so that when the big actions sequences roll by, we're invested in them. Not about some romance subplot that stole the limelight from what was the REAL plotline.

It looks great! What? I love the character and if you tell me you don't I'll call you a liar.
It's also damn good to hear that theme again after hearing it only once during At Wit's End.

...mmm...Penelope Cruz...Abre Los Ojos...mmm...

I'll see it but I anticipate experiencing the same feeling I had when I watch Terminator 4.

"Cool... But why did we need to make this movie? Oh right, the name is worth millions."

Oh well, hopefully by 2017 all the old familiar franchises will be so overdone that cinema will have no choice but to become innovative again.

[sub]At least Johnny Depp will make it interesting. The juries out when it comes to the script though.[/sub]

I concur. If they focus on the characters it'll be a great watch. I personally though that At World's End was weak mostly because they tried too hard to flesh out the mythology of the world, but just ended up failing. We want Jack!!

[sub]...And Penelope. Mostly Penelope.[/sub]

I was interested in this until they said the word "zombies." The only thing they could do to get my money now would be promise me that Kiera runs around naked the entire time.

Edit: Wait, they dropped Knightly and Bloom? Well. That completely kills any chance it had at rehooking me. Don't get me wrong, I'm female. Johnny Depp is hot. But...He just wasn't what drew me to this series.

Remains to be seen how this one turns out, but I don't expect that much. But at least Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley aren't in it, so less boring love scenes.

Penelope Cruz and no more Keira. Good. I didn't really like her. Orlando I like, but he obviously wouldn't appear in the movie after the At World's End finale.

Still, movies with Depp are worth watching just for Depp alone.

Most, if not all of her movies, are great. Don't remember what Jamon Jamon was about (I vaguely remember it, though) but there's hard to find a bad movie she played in.
