Hell, 7's Windows Defender has nearly made antiviruses redundant. Considering applications can't modify critical Windows system files - at least not without your permission - the OS structure is somewhat similar to the Mac OS, without being too restricting... or having a nightmarish compatibility issue.
By the way, if you have problems with your Windows and post it on any forum, you're bound to meet at least one jackass saying "You wouldn't have that problem if you were running a Mac".
