Downgraded from Vista after upgrading because it crashed too often.

Now I'm XP again, it's AWESOME! But I'd love to use 7...

Vista. I'll have to change when I buy a new laptop..but for now it's serving me well. I still think XP is the most reliable though. Pity it's getting phased out.
Well, Microsoft has extended support for the XP till 2015 (2 years beyond our retarded apocalypse), last I heard. If softwares stop supporting XP at any point in the future, I can safely say people can fall back on 7 - its backward compatibility has yet to fail me.

Hell, 7's Windows Defender has nearly made antiviruses redundant. Considering applications can't modify critical Windows system files - at least not without your permission - the OS structure is somewhat similar to the Mac OS, without being too restricting... or having a nightmarish compatibility issue.

By the way, if you have problems with your Windows and post it on any forum, you're bound to meet at least one jackass saying "You wouldn't have that problem if you were running a Mac".

Clobber him. Internet style.
Can I just ask him to right-click?

Heheh. Well the problem with XP is that games of the past decade mostly don't work on them at all. Though if 7 has backward compatibility...

One on Win7, another on Leopard, a third one with Ubuntu.
My workhorse is Win7, the other 2 are just for fun

I am currently using a PS3. The family computer runs Vista. The computers at my school run Windows 7 but they are so bogged down with security software that they can barely do anything.

it works for my needs and I'm not about to destroy all the terabytes of files and games and whatnot that I've accumulated just because windows 7 "looks cool."

well technically I have Windows 7 but God forbid I touch it again until next semester...hate programming

(I kinda want XP again to play FF7 but I guess sooner or later I'll bother to fix the specs on Windows 7)

Oh god! So much Winows!

I thought we were better than that, Escapist...
Dude, this is a GAMING site. When have you seen a Mac or Linux machine with game support? Valve titles excluded.
well lotsa console gamers too, but I suppose even us console gamers are now sitting on our butts in front of our computers surfing The Escapist lol
but THANK YOU people for not ripping other people for using a diff OS (at least I don't see any...unlike with consoles)

now now, you might want to consider describing it as an *upgrade*...
lol jk
I have a computer science friend who hooked me up with Windows 7 really early on, and it works like XP so it's comfortable

My stupid-ass I.T teacher said that most people on the planet use Macintosh, what a moron he is now that I see the results of the poll.
Last I read, Apple has ~10% of the consumer marketshare. And I'm fairly certain that almost no one uses Mac for a real server.

Edit: According to Wikipedia, Apple has 6.8% of the consumer marketshare http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_operating_systems
Exactly, next time I see that guy he better learn to get his facts straight the moron.

XP. As much as I hear nice things about 7, I like the small load on my crapple laptop, and the lack of hassle for retro games is a plus for me. Id run Linux on here, but no proper graphics support for Intel's graphics accelerator makes me cry.

Well, my computer runs XP because it's a P4 2.4ghz/512mb RAM/Onboard Graphics SO/HO machine from the earlyish 2000s.

And yes, it is my primary gaming computer. Recent upgrades include a DVD drive.
