You might find that important, and that's your opinion, but some of us could care less.

OT, I'm REALLY excited about this.

Err... you're missing the 'I don't care' option, was this purposeful?

If I did care then I would probably see it as great. He loves the Avengers and cares about making a quality product.

If you judge Joss Whedon's work more on Angel and Firefly than Buffy I definitely think he's the right man for the job, at least as right a man as can possibly be found. Whedon has a fantastic ability to present multiple characters in a story without allowing any one of them to truly steal the spotlight and without making the story feel too bloated with flat characters. Since Character is his specialty, I really can't imagine any other director helming this with the possible exception of Steven Soderberg, and I don't think he would ever handle a comic book film. My only doubt with Whedon is whether or not he'll present a well paced, well flowing story within the 2-3 hour confines he's probably being asked to work within. But then again, Whedon is also one director who will do the smart thing and assume that the audience has already seen Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk etc. and hence will not need to explain to us WHO these characters are, leaving more room for the actual plot to come out.

I'm a huge Whedonite, so I'm pretty psyched. He really cares about the Avengers; otherwise, I doubt he'd be considering it. He only takes on work for things he loves and wants to make great, so I'm fairly certain this movie will be wonderful.

I'm reserving my judgement on the Avengers movie untill I've seen Thor and Captain America.

At least he knows the history and story of The Avengers rather than directors who hadn't seen the source material at all, I'm looking at you Micheal Bay.

I've honestly never seen anything this man has done except Dr. Horrible and I didn't like it... I'll have to see at least a trailer before I can judge.

Just sayin'.
But yeah, I'd choose that option, I have no idea who Joss Whedon is.
Didn't John Cleese do his version even earlier than David Michel did? Complete with graph.

Edit: Ah, here it is! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCUsPnKD1gk

Huh, didn't know about that.
Still, seems like more people would listen to David Mitchell nowadays, seeing as John Ceese isn't in much any more.

Joss Whedon at least brought some self respect back to the terminator franchise... sort of... a little bit... okay not really. But still he's talented, even if some people don't like to admit it, and he could work wonders with this, or completley fuck it up I don't know.

You seriously included an 'It's Awful' option? I think most people here are probably going to say it's great. Hell, it's Joss Whedon! Which means it's probably going to be pretty damn excellent, as long as Fox don't intefere and get involved in any way whatsoever...
You should see the news post about this.

OT: At first I was "meh".

Then I learned he apparently helped write Toy Story, then I was like "FUCK YES!"

OP: Pretty good! I enjoy most of Whedon's work, and can't help thinking that this is exactly the kind of movie for him. As long as he's kept reasonably in check, I see no reason why he couldn't do something great with it.

I am SO glad that I am not alone in finding that mistake intolerable!

Anyway I voted: It's Great. Though really my opinion is not quite that extreme.

Its more of a: "Oh thats cool, Whedon's done some nice things so hopefully this will be up to par."

Was about to vote "Couldn't care less" when I realised it said "Could care less". I don't care, so I don't have an option to vote.

...

Actually, that makes sense.

I have a theory. They are going to intentionally make Captain America and Thor as bad as is humanly possible, Just so interest drops and the studio pulls out of the avengers for no other reason than to jerk Joss around.

Like him or not, the guy gets jerked around alot.

Yes! Massive Whedonite over here, and I just cannot wait for this movie! Make another Serenity style movie but with superheroes, and I think it'll be just fine.

I'm not bothered. I'm not that familiar with his work, so I can't really say I have any opinion of him. However, I am looking forward to the Avengers movie, so yeah!
