You know from a certain stand-point there is a fair amount of latent homophobia in that question.

I greatly anticipate the day I see "Chocolate and Peanut butter: Holy union or demonic collaboration?".

Yes, of course, unless he's some sort of pervert that can't look at a girl without wanting something.
I know a dude like that.

Simply put, two of my very best friends are male. Sometimes there's even less pressure on a relationship between a man and woman than there is between two women. Both types of friendships are necessary though.

I have female friends. I have loads of female friends. We have no attraction at all. Seriously, that isn't impossible or rare. Its insanely common. At least here it is...

Yeah. I've been friends with girls all my life without ever feeling attraction to them. Now, that is not to say that I have never felt attraction to any of them, just no all of them.

My instinct is to say that it's rare by looking at my friends and my friends' friends, but logic tells me that the answer has to be a solid "yes, what kind of question is that?"

I know that it's entirely possible and very common, but I don't have any close female friends (though my definition of friend is different than most. There are dozens if not hundreds of people who say I'm their friend but that I wouldn't walk across the street to piss on if they were on fire) and pretty much all of the guys I know are horny fucks who will be attracted to anything they aren't related to by blood, and won't have anything to do with women who aren't attractive enough to inspire that horniness.

"A woman may very well form a friendship with a man, but for this to endure, it must be assisted by a little physical antipathy."-Friedrich Nietzsche

Basically sums it up.

I hope you're not implying what I think you're implying.

And yeah, guys and girls can be 'just friends'. I have plenty.

Sorry, but I don't know what you think I'm implying?

Might be because I'm not a native English speaker.
Please do explain.

You said 'my best friend at the moment'. Which implies that you switch best friends often.

Or I'm just reading too far into it. Being an aspiring critic makes me prone to analyzing the most menial things.

Yes, they can. I'm good friends with a number of girls, and there is nothing going on between us.

It depends on the type of guy/girl you are. I find it very difficult once I get to know a girl really well to not at least consider taking it further. However so long as you don't act on these thoughts then you can keep being good friends.

I'd say it's rare, It doesn't mean they can't be friends or will flirt all the time though.
