Let's see - 240 games on Steam, active subscription to Metaboli, 20 games off GoG.com, others through Impulse, Direct2Drive, GamesPlanet...

Last order 'retail' was StarCraft II, because the bar stewards aren't making that available digital download until some time after release date. Probably do the same with Cataclysm.

I collect, so hard copy nearly all of the time. Mind you, I do have quite a few Steam games solely because they're dirt cheap. And, of course, there are some games you can ONLY get on download -- Shadow Complex on Xbox Live, for instance.

So a mix of the two, but I prefer boxed games.

I am, and will likely remain, somewhat paranoid about download services suddenly shutting down or somehow not allowing me access to the games I've paid for so I prefer hard copies. That said, I still splurged a bit during the Steam summer sale so I guess if the price is right it can overcome my fears.

Whats up with all the polls lately with no middle ground? Older/cheaper games I typically buy for the PC. If I'm going to buy something new I'll buy a hard copy of it.

Hard copy because it's not convenient and easy. I have to download crap overnight and it uses up my precious download bandwidth.

I much more perfer a hard copy of the game. I will get a digital copy if I can't avoid it, but I much perfer having a box.

I don't know, but it just feels to me like I actually have it. I own almost the entire Call of Duty PC collection (with the exception of Modern Warfare 2, for reasons that should be obvious). All of them are hard copies...except World at War, which I got as a gift over Steam. All of the other games, I feel like I actually own. With World of War, however, I always have this nagging feeling like I could lose it at any time (silly, I know, but still...).

It doesn't help that I require the Internet to actually install the game, which hurts a lot now that my Internet connection is temporarily down due to lighting (I am writing this from a public computer). So overall, I feel more secure with hard copies.

Hard copy, mostly cuz I love to read manuals during bathroom breaks :<
Took the words right out of my mouth; lol.

If it's on my consoles, then yeah, I'll get a hard copy. If it's on my PC, and it's cheap enough, I'll get a digital copy. The thing that I don't like most about PC games is the amount of crap that comes in those large, (sometimes) cardboard boxes.

Hard copy: you have both the satisfaction of a tangible object and you can't possibly delete your entire FFIX you got off PSN by accident.

A lot of the games I want are hard to find without Steam, but hard copies on my shelf look awesome. I buy hard copies when I can.

Digital Download.

It's gonna end up on the hard-drive anyway. Why not just cut out the middle man. Plus I hate the boxes just sitting there.

But it does show what games you do have and what don't you have.

I prefer hard copies, mostly because going to the store is a great time to decide what game I want to get next. Plus the guys at my local gamestop really know what they're talking about when I ask for a review

I prefer hard copies of the game because I like to physically hold the game in my hand, plus I am afraid that if something happens to all the companies servers that I downloaded that game from, it will not lose the record that I bought the game.

Hard copy. I like being able to look at and hold my collection of games.
