Question of the Day, March 27, 2010

You're going on a camping trip, and your outdoorsy friends have forbidden you from bringing along any gadgets. What do you smuggle along with you?

None of those. Not that I'd go on a trip with my friends. Wouldn't trust them... me and them in the woods... nope, no thanks. Although I could go without tech... take some books... and lights don't really count a gadgets...

I would only really need to bring one thing.

My house.

Then I would be completely fine.

Laptop. I honestly don't know how I could live without my computer...

You know, bringing along the gadgets kind of defeats the purpose of camping and getting away for from society and its associated networks. Books, fine; sketching stuff, fine; cooking stuff, fine; connections to electronic media, bad.

My cellphone. Mainly, because I will die without my music, and secondly, if something happens it's a good to be able to call for help.

I'd be fine without any tech for a while.

I'm surprised so many people voted cell phones on this poll. I can't stand the things myself. I usually just leave mine at home like a regular phone because I don't feel like being disturbed by people who have nothing better to do than call about absolutely nothing at all.
Actually, scratch that, I'm not surprised. Most people I know would probably be at the camping site checking their damn text messages every 5 seconds. I'd probably be the one dragging them there forbidding them from bringing their cell phones.

I have the power of the internet in my hand with my cell phone.

I'd take my cell phone, in case I passed out due to low blood sugar. That way they could call the hospital and they could give them step-by-step instructions on how to give me an injection.

Where is the iPod / mp3 player option?

I literally never leave my house without it.

Usually my iPod and the awesome Logitech docking station I have. Rarely much more than that, because pretty much the only camping I've done in the last few years are festivals.

MP3, DS, cellphone.

MP3 because people bore me, DS because music might bore me, cellphone because I'm not an idiot and if there's an accident, I want to be able to get help.

I'd take the laptop, only the batteries don't last long enough to make it worthwhile. So the DS it is, heheh.

I don't have a cellphone, I don't have a laptop and I don't have a handheld.

So I wouldn't bring along any tech if I ever went on a camping trip because of simple elimination.
