I'll have to be Republic, at least for my first character. In all RPG's (and this is an RPG make no mistake) I always play my fist character as if it were me making the decisions - and I'm simply too much of a nice guy (read: too soft) to make those evil decisions for the most part.

Second time though I'm happy to play as a hard-ass though

I think I'll go for a jedi or a bounty hunter.
Most likely to be jedi as I think the average Galactic Republic player will be more mature then the average Empire player.

I base this on absolutely nothing.

The underdog one, so i suppose ill stick to Republic at first, tho it depends on how my friends will spread out across galaxy, and what races will be eventually avalible.

I would unquestioningly join the Sith if there was an Ewok Sith Lord. I wish they had an Ewok character in The Force Unleashed.

if the tech tree is like the KotoR games then being a sith gives the most powerful force lightning attack, which is awesome... other wise republic

I wish it was more like Star Wars Galaxies and the class you pick didn't decide the faction you were paired up with (beyond jedi and sith of course) though I'd still be a Imperial Bounty Hunter either way...

Sith, simply because they have the bounty hunter class.

That is, I would, if I was interested in making a subscription to TOR. Only things MMO related I'm interested in are EVE Online, The Secret World and APB.

If I'm going to play I'll roll an Imperial Agent for my first character, so I'll be joining the Sith.

I'm still on the fence about whether or not I'm gonna play though. On the one hand, it looks and sounds awesome. On the other hand, it's an MMO...

The Sith is not evil. The Sith simply have another way of looking at how the Force should be used. They gave into their emotions a lot more than the Jedi, obviously, and because of that it gave them a whole host of abilities that the Jedi could never attain. The Sith powers are interesting, but I prefer the rational objective outlook that the Jedi have.
If I had to pick one to live by, I might say Jedi. However, in terms of a game SITH ALL THE WAY. KILL EVERYTHING THAT BLOCKS MY PATH.

well ill prob go sith first, as they seem the more interesting choice.
though will have to roll a jedi knight just to see both sides, but will def stay with teh dark side fun times ahead i predict
