The 7th Guest gave me a few freaky moments. There is a scene where you climb the stairs where a female ghost walks down and through you that I found pretty freaky. I jumped the first time it happened. And the maze in the basement where Stauf keeps asking, "Feeling... LONELY?" when you hit a dead end was scary the first few times. After that, it was just annoying. And there were a few others I found somewhat scary. But it didn't make me stop playing.

I'm always nervous when I go for the Final Boss: am I leveled-up enough? Have I really finished everything I want to do in this game? Will he just murder me? It usually takes me hours of delays before I'm ready to finish a game.

Nah.

Amnesia made me take a few brakes though.

Also, there is no way in hell that Resident Evil title will be scary. The developers are clearly kidding themselves.

Nope. If I don't finish a game, sometimes it is because it is too hard, but most of the time I just complete lose interest before the end...

I'm having problems getting through games which work in a psychological sense. "Dead Space" and "Doom 3" are more like a jump scare fest which doesn't affect me.

But once my mind starts making up the stuff around the corner, I have to turn the volume of my TV down.

That must have been one (if not THE) most uncomfortable level I ever played - even start creeped me out just because of the evil design of your surroundings.

For some reason when I play video games I get so much more engrossed in the game then any other medium. That being said, I hate horror video games for that reason. I just don't like being hunted by something in a game that I don't know where it is. I can watch horror movies just fine but not games.

When I was playing through HL2 the first time, when I came to Ravenholm I was OK until I got about half way through and they introduced the super fast crab people. That effectively freaked me out enough to make it take about a week to actually get the balls to get through it.

I'm currently plowing through the STALKER games and last time I played, I just finished X18. That place is fucking scary! D:
But I made it through, and now I'm on my way to X16. Yay!

Not really but I'm terrified of playing a multiplayer match in Starcraft 2.

Nobody here mentioning anything by Frictional? I'm a little disappointed. Like Yahtzee said, those games are utterly unmatched as constipation treatments.

Well at the moment I'm playing Dead Space. I've already finished the game on easy. I thought it was pretty creepy but I could handle it. I'm now playing it on impossible difficulty. The fact that any monster could tear me to shreads makes the experience that much more tense for me. The "shock" bits don't scare me because I've seen them all before, but I am 'scared' to move on because I know I could die very easily.

For me that is a requirement to be scared. How can I be scared of something that doesn't pose a threat?

I was initially scared in RE4 - they did a good job of making the start really creepy and the music made it pretty intense. As soon as it became clear that I could just blast my way through any encounter it ceased to be scary. I love both RE4 and 5, but not because they're scary.

Yeah, The Darkness. Not scared as such, but it's so fucking draining I literally cannot play it anymore. After
The second time in the WWI trenches I didn't sleep for a week because I just sat up all night trembling and thinking about death.
I wanna finish it, because it's awesome, but...I just can't.

Regenerators and Iron Maidens on Resident Evil 4.

I mean, i was about 10, and they are kinda scary...
I finished the game. But due to scary, heavy breathin' mo' f*ckas, it took a while.
