Super Mario Brothers. Easy.

Everyone knows that tune.
Those tunes. It's not just the main theme that's recognizable, I'd bet the underground/dungeon music will get just as much reaction as the overworld. Or given that it seems to have a more consistent prescience than even the 1-1 theme, it may even be more recognizable.

I voted other because it is a 3-way (bow chicka wow wow) tie between Mario, SOnic, And Zelda. All three can pop into my head any given moment. And I'm not just talking their original songs, but even stuff from current games. Especially the rock-music from the newer Sonic titles.

I present to you, the greatest Final Fantasy battle song you've probably never heard. Enjoy:

And yes, that is the SNES electric guitar MIDI, in all it's awesome glory.

Most memorable? Mario.

Best overall? Not Mario. (I'd actually put Mario last on that list of games when it comes to a question of the best music)

Mystic Quest got a lot more flack than it deserved. It was a fun game meant as an intro to RPG and, yes, it did have some amazing music.

Jim Power in Mutant Planet for the Atari ST:

I was headbanging so hard I had to stop the video as my neck started hurting. True story
For some reason the version I have has a slower tempo, which improves things a little bit.

I didn't own a console back in the old days, so none of those games' music can be memorable.

For me it was the music from some of my Amiga games, but I can't decide which one was most memorable, they were all brilliant.

I think due to the combination of it's powerful sound hardware, and the talents the game composers such as David Whittaker and the late Richard Joseph, the Amiga had the best game music out of all it's contemporaries.

I had an Amiga long before I owned a stereo or even a CD player, so sometimes I used to load up games just to listen to the music.

Metroid above all else. Much better than most games' music even today.

Was between Super Mario Bros and Final Fantasy (the other three I never really played), but I don't know anyone who doesn't know the Super Mario Bros song...

Super Mario Brothers for memorable. Though I can say that I generally don't care for Sonic that much...

Banjo Kazooie. I absolutely loved the music in that game, especially the main theme from Gruntilda's Lair.

I had to pick other... I thought there were too many games that had memorable music.

Is that bad?
