I thought Elites looked like giant lizards. And gorillas don't have pincer mouths.

While I agree that spartans kick ass, the elites do have good guns. Like the fuel rod, or sticky launcher, or energy sword(technically not a gun), or focus rifle.

And I think you're just dancing around the fact that they don't look like gorillas. They don't even have hair, or the same type of mouth, or the same eyes. The only resemblance is two arms, two legs, and they're very tall.

I don't know who the Elite are but they are trailing way behind the 'I don't like Halo' option. They must really suck!

Elites are behind simply becuase they lack the character customization factor that so many people like, and also becuase there a ton of people on the site who bothered wasting their time voting for the third answer who most likely never played any games in the series (as mentioned by MurderousToaster). In universe, they're complete badasses and the most popular of the enemy races.

OT: I like the Elites more becuase they have regenerating health, better gear and are fucking space dinosaurs. Seriously, look at these guys!

I choose Elites, usually. They're baddass space lizard-dinosaurs who can drive fear into the most hardened of human warriors, along with sharp and deadly energy blades of doom! The masterchief is somewhat cooler on a 1v1 scale, but multiplayer is just a bunch of faceless spartans without the cheif's oomph, so GO LIZARDMEN!

Spartans. They're more customisable, their weapons are better, and they're half the size of Elites. Yeah, ok, Elites have the evade ability, but that's a poor trade-off for having plasma weapons that give away your firing position better than a huge neon sign and being larger than the proverbial barn door.
