Then it's not a fucking essay. How about spitting out 4000 words in an intellectual fit, for fun? 6000+ words as an A-level project? 10,000+ words at university? How about 86,000+ words as a fucking book? THOSE are essays.

Grow up and do your work yourself, on time, and properly, like a real man. It's not like what you're doing is hard for you to do.

God damn it, kids these days.

Put on a pot of coffee and calm the hell down. You're not boned yet, though I would advise that in future you ask for help sometime before the night before your paper is due. This will save you an all-nighter and a hell of a long the-following-day.

It would help if you could provide a list of things you know a gread deal about (x) and perhaps also a list of books, movies, games, etc. that you enjoyed. (y)
Your title will be "x as presented in y1 and y2".

The way that I would put this into action, for instance, might be "Technology as presented in Star Trek and Star Wars". Or perhaps "Music as presented in Oliver Stone's 'The Doors' and Bill Bailey's 'remarkable guide to the Orchestra'."

This formula will work for every single comparative literature paper you will ever need to write.

1): A world in which people do things because they understand that those things are necessary?

2): A world in which people do things to avoid getting punished?

If someone does something wrong, you can't merely adopt the 'punish him till he stops' attitude or he will start doing the right thing merely to avoid being punished, not because it is the right thing to do.
You have posed a silly question as ofc number one would be best, it would be lovely to live in a world where everyone does the right thing (possible tho that it might be boring), however it's just not plausible.

"Impress upon him that by not working he is harming noone but himself and he will stop. It is only when you punish him that he will never truly learn."
Take for instance a child, if he does something wrong, and you tell him not to he will keep doing it sometimes, what then? reward him for not doing it? Then your only shifting the side of the argument from not doing something to not get something bad to doing something to get something good. If the child is getting rewarded for good things then he is only learning to do stuff for rewards. Or is there some other form encouragement to actually make kids and people act a certain way, I can assure you of one thing, telling a toddler not to do something because it's not nice does not work.

Not even a page?

Oh come the fuck on. Stop reading this, turn off computer.
Get pen, start writing, it's a friggin page and you can quickly blitz through it once you decide to stop pussyfooting and actually go for it.

I mean heck you got total freedom to compare between any 2 things so long as they match each other... Ffs you can't have writers block in this case, it would be the opposite, being frozen by an abundance of choice and not being able to pick one out.

Worst comes to worst: you have ALL night, thats 8 hours, plenty of time.
Sleep is for the organized, if you ever make it to uni (which btw if you struggle for a page really counts against you) you are gonna go through this scenario a lot, in much harsher conditions, and if you think being asked to write 1 page is tough be prepared for a rude awakening.

Well I would love to help but I'm coming up a little bit short myself.
The problem is there doesn't seem like an restrictions on your brief, 'compare two things' is a little bit vague which leaves almost too many possibilities. If you have a full brief I would be interested to hear it.

Ok heres all I can come up with based upon the idea of the two things being related in some way.

Try comparing The Lion King and Hamlet - The Lion King is loosely based upon the play by Shakespeare, you'll get extra brownie points for using Shakespeare when you don't have to (English teachers love it when you do that) and the Lion King is burned into our subconcious so its much better than using some obscure film or game. All in all a good choice because the two are very comparable and your English teacher will instantly be able to recognise and relate to both choices.

Hope I could be of help, oh and don't let people get on your nerves about leaving it to the last minute, everybodys done it and everybodys been there on that last minute caffine fueled deadline night. Good Luck.

Compare any Disney film with the original story, a lot of them, Little Mermaid in particular, were really messed up

Lol at all the hating coming from people, because they've all never ever left anything to the last minute. And because a fucking essay is the most important thing in the universe.

Seriously though, 1 page shouldn't really be difficult. What would go down well with your teacher?

Could do Wilfred Owen vs any other wartime poet.
Could contrast myths of different cultures and what it says about that culture's values.
Could do Eastern attidutes to [whatever] versus western ones.

EDIT: The suggestion in the post above mine is actually good, do that if you have enough time to do a teeny bit of research.

When I had a similar assignment I compared Ringu and The Ring as well as Ju-on and the Grudge (ie the original Japanese horror films and the Hollywood remakes) and commented on how cultural differences affected the presentation of what were essentially the same stories in each case.

By reading your posts, I'd say that the word "Advanced" is getting thrown around pretty liberally here.

Write a comparison of the helpfulness factor between asking friends for help and asking random Internet people for help. Seems like you've already started your case study.

Procrastinators of the world unite... TOMORROW!
I kid, I was the same way in high school. I think once I was so desperate for a topic that I wrote a random list of items, stuck them in a hat, and wrote a topic about whatever I pulled out.

No really, they're scarily similar when you look at them.
Hansel and Gretel was just... Now that I look back at it, how's that a children's story? Or compare nursery rhymes to the supposed social-political events that inspired them.

Quick! Stop mucking around on the internet and start writing then! Also, why did you wait until the last minute to write an essay? Seriously it's an essay, you pick a topic, do some research, create a thesis, explain three topics with at least three details each then write a conclusion, and cite whatever it is you didn't think up yourself or that isn't common knowledge. Heck yours doesn't even have to be more than a page, just write something, anything! It's an essay, write a story! Essays aren't hard mate, but it does actually require you to use your brain. *sighs* The work ethic of kids these days. *shakes head*

If you seriously can't finish a one page paper in a day then you're screwed. I've done 5 page papers in one night. C'mon man it'll take like 2 hours tops. Just think of something, ANYTHING. If you have no restrictions it really isn't that hard. In fact I'd have trouble only being limited to 1 page, that wold drive me nuts =/

Compare the Doctor from Doctor Who with Batman.

They are actually quite similar.

Nemesis Is a symbol of insanity and kind of a genius? CHECK.
Won't use guns? CHECK.
Uses crazy gadgets instead? CHECK.
Detective? CHECK.
Iconic, multipurpose vehicle? CHECK.
Takes on multiple sidekicks, but one at at time? CHECK...I think.

OOH! Or compare V for Vendetta with Assassin's Creed. You know, that story about an assassin with throwing knives who takes down a massive, religiously-motivated conspiracy that aims to control free will in the name of safety and peace by killing it's most powerful members.

Wait wait wait. This thing doesn't even have to be a page long? What the hell are you having a problem with, then? I was all prepared to offer sympathy as a fellow procrastinator, but one page of writing due tomorrow, and you're freaking out? I once wrote a ten page paper in four hours for the head of the English department at my highly ranked $35,000-a-year college and still got a B+ on it. If I can do it, so can you!

MAN UP.

Hm, churn out a page on the attitudes and actions concerning crime of two different countries and their comparative effectiveness/crime rate?

The genres of movies/books/plays that are the most popular of different time periods and the possible cultural explanations for said differences of popularity?

The similarities between whatever vice of different time periods was causing the biggest cultural outcry, such as alcohol during prohibition times, jazz music, violent video games, etc. Compare the similarity of the moral guardian outcry to ban said "evil" things, and the results of said effort?
