Not any more :)

But this leads me to thinking...what mundane, boring jobs could be livened up by great game sound effects?

"other"? You call war boring? Heh

Maybe being a cashier, everytime you drop change into the register you hear the coin sound effect from Mario. Then when you're the first who's finished his/her work you get the victory sound from when you jump into the flag pole.

I could watch maybe 30 seconds of this before having to quit. Why patronise what is not only one of the most moving, saddening and downright disturbing moments not only in movie history but real world history by applying these shoddy sound effects over it? Those men made a sacrifice, this cheapens that considerably and is a real shame.

See? Now that's an example of a sensible use of this particular gimmick. The movie didn't have to be a part of this thread

The ammo farming was the best. Way to make war fun.. make a good recruitment campaign.

I would suggest accountancy or undertaker. They could do with some fun sound effects.

Ok, first of all, sense of humour? Secondly, SPR was a overdramatised fictional account of something that never happened.
If you're talking about Dunkirk or the Normandy Landing, then they were nothing like what that film showed, and I wouldn't make fun of the Cenotaph or the REAL history.

Overblown Hollywood Tearfests are ripe though.

I work in finance solving people's trading problems. I'd like a Mario coin sound when things go well or a Zelda Chest celebration when I find a problem.

This sounds brilliant - I'm going to load some Game OST on to my PSP to listen to when working.

My comment on war being boring to him was in jest, though. Just pointing out his bad choice of words in that perspective.
I do acknowledge the fact that the people who fought the real war made a sacrifice, but I'm sure they wouldn't want everyone blabbing on and on about it. Yet again, companies keep rolling out these films and Medal of Honor videogames. That doesn't seem to respectful to me as well.
Also This particular movie has been used for a Dutch comedy voice over as well, and guess what: I was actually rolling over the floor laughing at it. There's a difference between being disrespectful and making a little joke.

Still you must be able to see why people would think it a bit tacky or distasteful. Yes it's a hollywood film, yes it probably is overdone in places. Still doesn't change the reality of what you're effectively denigrating.
As I said, I think the idea could be used in many clever situations and could potentially be the source of a good topic thread, but using this film as an example was poor taste. That's all I'm saying in this situation

SPR is one my favourite War movies (not from my typical, sadistic point of view either) it showed tragedy and was indeed quite saddening but even I found the video hilarious. I can't believe this is coming from me of all people, but lighten up.

Of course. I quite like it in the orange box how you hover over the start game icon and it comes up with that music (which always seemed like some over-glorified spy sort of music to me, it was good though). It just seems a bit tasteless to apply it to something like this

Get off your high horse, and unless your willing to say you've never played a game based on war, then you can't say nothin'.

Well, I sure hope you didn't play CoD:WaW then.
