Racist against....whites?

Multiple things which haven't been mentioned, but if we're disussing race and racism issues the whole picture is probably necessary. For example, a white man calls a black man subhuman because of the colour of his skin. This is racist. A black man calls a white man subhuman because of the colour of his kin. This is racist. A black man calls another black man subhuman because his skin isn't quite as dark as his. In Malawui, there are crimes we would class as being race crimes between two people from different ancestral tribes, based on skin colour and geographic location. It's racism, but not as we know it.

Also, would everybody stop saying 'we'. I have never once been involved in the owning of slaves, the subjugation of anyone of another skin colour, and I find it ridiculous and insulting to even suggest this to me. By even saying 'we white people need to accept our history of racism' lowers the argument to an unarguable basis. My history does not involve racism. My ancestors' history may or may not (I honestly don't know), but mine doesn't. I don't even see why I have to acknowledge my ancestor's history; as has been said before, I wasn't there.

The REAL (read: academic) definition of racism is "A system of advantage based on race favoring whites, and simultaneously disadvantaging minorities." (My wording). Perhaps in some countries you can switch around the races, but not in America. And if you follow this definition, it is impossible to be truly racist against white people, because racism works in their favor. Of course, the definition we most often see is personal racism, where a person or group engages in "racist" behavior. As the academics argue, if there was only this personal racism, then it would have died out already because society has realized that it's wrong. But there's still a system of advantage based on race.

whites as a race and more specifically American's have become an easy scapegoat because of the actions of our ancestors. In the past things have happened that aren't the best, we need to drop the past,but not repeat it if we want to move on.

Double standard

Some people think that minorities get the luxury of being racist to white people because white people did it for so long. Let's all forget the meaning of equality and just turn it around to in essence make minorities superior.

This is the best argument. I agree with this. If it's equality, then a white person should not be punished for something while a minority gets off the hook for the same thing.

Well I'le add my little opinion here, I don't know if every one is going to like it but it's my opinion and I think there's a lot of truth to it.

First off I can gather that most people on this site (Well at least all those posted so far) don't have a Racist bone in there body, and that's good, then we can discuss this without any bias thoughts.

Okay were to begin, ho yeah, The whole slavery issue, well for one you can't hold on to this card, a lot of Black People these day's tend to believe that there the only people to have ever been enslaved, well a message to the racist black man who likes to call every one cracker and honkey, here's a news flash, your not, the slave trade was going on a way, way, way, way before America or Britain was even discovered, Romans used to capture and enslave there enemies and sell them in the slave trade, and most of Rome's enemies weren't black, they were white, they were nordics a lot of them, they came from every part of the earth that they knew of including Italy. The Greeks had a slave trade going on, even Africa had it's own slave trade, yes black people using black people as slaves and Black people using White people as slaves. I could probably bet you that at just about every country and ever ethnicity has been used as slaves before.

Another thing about the whole slave trade in America, well I'm going to get boo'd for saying this but, well it was a good thing in the long run, before you start throwing tomatoes at me just think about it, even though a lot of your ancestors had to go through hell but now your at least free in America rather then in Rwanda getting shut and killed just for the sake of it, or Indonesia starving to death with plagues and disease's every were, I mean people who live on a bad street in a bad neighbour hood may think there in poverty, but go to a "bad neighbour hood in Rwanda and you'll think twice.

That aside though I'm not that bothered about racism, I don't get offended when I'm watching Lenny Henry or Chris Rock I laugh my arse of at it, the same way I laugh at Roy Chubby Brown. I'm not into racism but if it's a laugh and a joke I don't mind being the race the joke is aimed at. I can live with those jokes and just accept the stereotype , however when it starts to get a little too serious I tend not to laugh and not take it for a joke, sorta the reason I don't like Bernan manning (Goes just that mile too far and keeps on sprinting).

I'm all for equality and one day I hope it to be a equal world but at the moment it just isn't happening, a lot people need to change there attitude and way of thinking before that happens, the KKK need to get a grip and a lot of Black people need to learn to move on and stop living in the past.

I've actually met someone who was a real anti-white racist, I was pretty shocked. It was some militant, India Hindu guy who basically said that every white person was evil and stupid, and that his glorious culture was the source of all progress in the world. Something like that. It felt so weird talking with that guy. and yes I'm white myself.

Its nice to see someone going further back in history than a couple of hundred years. Also the spanish ensalved native americans when america was "discovered". Slavery has been a sad event in history and i agree with you. I find lenny henry funny especially as he makes jokes about himself too but groups like the BNP and kkk are in my opinion are just backward.
