I've seen a few people complain about Razer products die on them fairly quickly. I've never really understood how. I've been using Razer products for a good while now, and I've never had any problems. I've had my mouse for about 3 years and it's only starting to mess up (which is partly my fault), I've had a Razer keyboard for round about 7 months and it still works fine, and I've had a Razer headset for round about 5-6 months and it still works like a charm.
It's really quite simple. I've used quite a few Razer products, from keyboards to mice to headsets, and every single one has had some kind of mechanical issue within a few months of getting it. Sometimes it's a minor, easily ignored issue, sometimes it's a catastrophic failure that renders the thing unusable.

When they work, they're really awesome pieces of hardware, but they just aren't very reliable in my experience.

Neutral party here (as in, I'm not particularly partial towards Razer products).

As far as I'm concerned, he can make whatever products he likes for whatever platforms he wishes and he can take his company in whatever direction he wants. If it works well enough for him, then why should I care? There is absolutely no reason as to why anyone should literally get angry and start huffing and puffing over it. It's none of their business whatsoever, and if they don't like it they should vote with their wallet instead of whinging that their favoured platform isn't getting any attention from a certain company that apparently makes good products.

Hell, valium worded it well in his own post.

The subject of the article himself put it best:

"Why's it selfish? I design stuff I actually want as a gamer rather than sell stuff to gamers for money."

To disagree is, to me, self-entitlement. Nobody's in any position to demand anything from a company that is well-settled into their chosen niche.

It is a pity when you spend that kind of money on their products, too. I'm just glad I've never really had problems with their hardware.

I, for one, am not exactly thrilled with Razer as a game peripheral maker, but largely due to the fact that they've discontinued left-handed (or rather, ambidextrous) products without replacing them with new ones that were equally so.

I was quite fond of my Tarantula keyboard, though Razer's tech-support was useless. I eventually had to hack it to make it work with my play style.

Eventually, the keyboard failed, and Razer's inability to provide an equivalent, or even a lesser keyboard at a reasonable price made me turn away. Currently, I have a Corsair K60 which serves, and look forward to upgrading to the Logitech G710 Plus when I have disposable income. Logitech's customer service is actually reasonable.

TL:DR: Fuck Razer. Go with Logitech. They'll treat you better.

If he's so enamored with his 360, why not make a PS3 controller in the form of the 360 controller? I would love one of those.

And vice versa for the other folks.

The choice of both controller types for everyone!

I have NEVER understood people like this. There is not a single damn thing the 360 has over the PS3, except for a handful of (subpar) exclusives. Even if you disagree on that part, the PS3 has everything the 360 has, but with MORE exclusives. the only real reason why I've seen people choose a 360 over a PS3 is because their friends have it. Which is arguably a testament to the 360's "stellar" online functions, but I disagree with this assessment. Instead, I think Microsoft has a MUCH MUCH better marketing campaign, especially for American audiences (and perhaps more shrewed business practices).
"I've never understood people who like things I don't."

OT: I snorted at the headline, but reading the actual justification... fair enough. No different to developers making the games they actually want to.
Given the rest of what I said, your interpretation makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

But ok.

I think the problem is that my post sounded more fanboyish than I intended.
I read it all, I was just condensing it for you. Does the fault in, "the 360 has subpar exclusives, but even if you like them you can't deny the PS3 has more SO Y U NO BY PS3?!" really need to be spelled out?

I don't really care for the 360 accessories. I have a stock MS Controller and the Dpad has never really been an issue.

That is a blessing in disguise really. Whenever I see anyone with a Razer product, I instantly know that they have done zero research on what they were buying. Every single one of their products is horrendously overpriced, and not only that, but most of them are also of poor quality. Their mice are a joke, with terrible sensors and constant firmware and usb power management issues. There is no reason to get a Razer mouse, when you can get a much better mouse at 1/3rd of the price (like the Logitech G400). Their headphones, with frequent use, have a lifespan of about a year, and that if you're lucky. Their keyboards are decent, but cost about 3 times as much as anyone should spend for a mechanical keyboard, ever. Overall, they are turds covered in neon lights and sold for their weight in gold.

How is this the ceo of the company? Making business deals based on personal interest? You should be doing what is profitable, not just making accessories to things you like.

If it was based on equations dictating the price of making the accessories work on the PS3, licensing fees, and other hurdles will no net profit, than I can understand Razor not doing it. This, however, is just stupid.

I guess he only likes gunbro shooters and fighers.
Razer is pretty overpriced anyways.

According to you maybe, if someone doesn't care about those exclusives they wont assign the same value to them that you do. Besides if "award winning" exclusives matter so much why bother with Sony? Nintendo are the ones that have the most and highest rated and selling exclusives of all time.

Huh. Must be why I've had every Nintendo console since the SNES in addition to my Sony platforms.
Well if thats what you like thats what you like, but why have the Sony devices at all then? If the exclusives are the be all and end all why get anything else?

Typical solipsism. Not much else to say.

Suffice to say that he's missing a pretty big market by excluding PS3/PS4 users. Not like Razer is going to be out of business anytime soon, but it feels like both them and PS3/PS4 owners are missing out because of this decision.

You serious?
You come into the thread, knowing nothing about the subject matter, and then ask people why YOU should care?

Dude, if you don't like a news article, or don't know anything about what's being discussed, don't post in the thread. Simple as that.
Terramax said:
There are lord knows how many companies out there that make peripherals for consoles and PCs. What's this company to any other out there?
This company is the topic of this news article.

I feel like I'm stating the obvious here.
Terramax said:
No, I'm saying that, IF the company is Chinese, I think there's a likely chance it makes crappy products. Not stating as gospel. Just stating, with my experience, that I think Chinese products are rubbish.
And that my friend is what we call anecdotal evidence.

No, I ask why ANYONE should care. Hence why should WE care?

This is isn't an unusual question. Whenever Pachter makes a comment about the industry, we always have SEVERAL people asking the question 'why is his opinion important? Why should be care?'. And these are questions that should be asked in EVERY topic in generic news.

'Why' is THE most important question. For instance, WHY do we need to know this information? WHY is it news? WHY is it important that we know this?

This, my friend, is me stating the obvious to you.

So, I ask again. WHY is this company's opinion and decision important to anyone? The fact that you've dogged this question stands as evidence that this isn't as obvious as you make it out to be.

EDIT: actually, on second thought, don't bother replying. Nothing's going to be resolved at this stage, and I've not the energy to read any more responses.
