You know them, and, if you are a gamer, you almost certainly love them.
Ocarina of Time.
Half-Life.
Counter Strike.
Super Mario 64.
Chrono Trigger.
The list goes on. These games are almost unconditionally loved by everyone who remembers playing them when they were younger. A number of them have stood the test of time and can are still fantastic when looked at next to recent, comparable games.
Now, here's the question, inspired by my desire to pick up a new game and hatred of boring threads that will likely die out shortly after a satisfactory answer is found.
What recent ( within, say, the last 9 years ) titles do you think will be remembered as "classic" games? What will this generation's gamers be telling their kids was wonderful in 10-20 years, and why?
My pick would have to be Castle Crashers. It has a pleasing visual style that is likely to age well, in that CC's cartoon-y style will still look good next to the spectacular 3D graphics that we'll be sure to have in another decade or so. The core gameplay is already ancient but still thoroughly enjoyable, so as long as the gamers of the future haven't moved on to full-body motion control for everything, it'll likely be accessible and just as fun as it was when the game came out.
