Tony Hawk's Underground. The last good TH game in my opinion.

GTA: San Andreas. My personal favourite of the GTA games.

Nice to see someone's got a similar idea, I missed a boat load of good games first time round, so I'm looking for a few.

Started a couple of weeks ago, now I've got; Beyond Good and Evil, Okami, Kingdom Hearts, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Red Faction one and two, Timesplitters one and two, Prince of Persia: sands of time, Black, God of War, and one more I can't remember... For Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, you may need to go on eBay (though you might get lucky at a trade in store like CEX if you're in the UK. GAME don't seem to sell PS2 games any more, and neither do most Gamestations.

Anyone want to recommend anything else? I would advise playing Conflict: Desert Storm (it's a series as well), I had great fun with it.

I also recommend Kingdom Hearts, I'm a big fan of the series. I found the first game a lil challenging though, so if you get discouraged, pick up 'Chain of memories' (which takes place between 1+2).

I also need to recommend the 7-game dot hack series which begins with dot//hack Infection

The Warriors. Seriously, the best fuckin' brawler ever made.
Quoted b/c that game was sick.

The movie is also a must. And he could play it on his PS2.

Persona 3: FES, Persona 4, Silent Hill 2, and (though you might want to rent it first) Marc Ecko's Getting Up.

It's hard to find and a little obscure, but find a copy of Trapt. It's the final installment of Tecmo's Deception and the only one on ps2. The first 3 were on ps1. Terrible story (do you didn't miss anything in the first 3) terrible voice acting, but very fun gameplay. If you ever wanted to be the coyote trying to use acme devices in a Rube Goldbergian way to try and mangle a Roadrunner, this game is for you.

In short: What are some good PS2 games?

Ok, so here's the deal. I (like some other gamers out there somewhere) got a PS1 as my first console. Loved it to bits!

But then Sony stopped making PS1 games, I didn't have a job... long story short I never got around to upgrading to a PS2, but moved up to an Xbox 360 about 2 years ago, which is also great...
I have a friend on the opposite pattern: had Genesis skipped ps1, has a ps2, but skipped this gen.
It is worth going back to the ps2. I still turn mine on as there are some things they haven?t brought to this gen...like crash junctions.

Which brings me to my suggestions of the three games which make owning a ps2 worth it to me:

Burnout Revenge ? even if (or especially if) you don?t like driving games you will still love crash junctions
Katamari Damacy/ We love Katamari ? either/both will blow your mind
GTA San Andreas ? more content than I?ve ever seen packed into a game; and most of it?s great. What isn?t great is optional yet I felt compelled to do it all anyway. The biggest open world ever.
If you celebrate 420, I would also add Rez & Ribbit King to the list and highlight the Katamari games.
