Shinsei-J said:Just watch the Bakemonogatari series please.
It has everything you could ever want in an anime including everything you listed.
I haven't watched Bakemonogatari because I want to read the light novels it's based on first. I'm a huge fan of the writer, NISIOISIN.Fleaman said:Boku no [REDACTED]
I'm surprised so many of the suggestions so far have been classics. Also, completely contrary to the OP's criteria. Seriously, Attack on Titan? Akira?
Here are a few series that are a bit more contemporary and relevant:
Bakemonogatari (2009), Nisemonogatari (2012), Nekomogatari (2013) - Supernatural slice-of-life type.
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (2011), "Haganai" for short, English "I Don't Have Many Friends") - Love comedy about a high school club for jerks. The manga is funnier, but the anime is boobier. I am just now noticing that both of these recommendations feature extremely cruel girls with long dark hair.
Since you're a fan of NisiOisin, you might like Medaka Box, although that title doesn't get truly interesting until the second season titled "Medaka Box Abnormal."Queen Michael said:I haven't watched Bakemonogatari because I want to read the light novels it's based on first. I took a look at it as soon as I read your post.sleekie said:Seikon no Qwaser. You want something based around fanservice, you got it.
I do implore you to watch the anime anyway. It's done by Studio Shaft and directed by Akiyuki Shinbou, the directing madman. This means lots of visual methaphors and symbolism (and fanservice. I keep telling myself it's tasteful tongue-in-cheek fanservice, but at the end of the day I'm still looking at girls in suggestive poses). Combine that with Nisioisin's writing and you've got an impeccable result. Seriously, you're missing out on a gem here.Queen Michael said:I haven't watched Bakemonogatari because I want to read the light novels it's based on first. I'm a huge fan of the writer, NISIOISIN.
This is also an undeniable truth.Casual Shinji said:Golden Boy - You want raunchy humor..? This 6 episode series is the king.
Golden Boy manga is infinitely better than six episodes of anime. It is much more deep, longer and weirder.Casual Shinji said:Golden Boy - You want raunchy humor..? This 6 episode series is the king.
Dragon Half - The anime has only 2 episodes, but is screamingly funny. The manga goes on for way longer and is just as hilarious.
I never thought I would see Eiken in an anime recommendation thread. And I hope I never do so again.Johnny Novgorod said:Oh and then there's this ridiculous thing called Eiken. It's the whole premise of the show, I think.
