Wow. I don't know whether to call this absolutely amazing or somewhat unsettling. Maybe both.

I think this might be an exaggeration, Have you seen the Red Dead leaderboards? They've had the shit hacked out of them, so these statistics could include numbers from douchebags who hacked themselves a "kill count" of 100,000 or something.

132 million...

I'm no historian, but I have a feeling that's more than the entire population of the USA at that point in time, or at least the Western USA.
There is 300 something million people in North America today, my guess is that at RDR time, there was about 80 millions or so. Population skyrocketed during that time though, so my very self made statistics may be slightly wrong.

I haven't bought this game yet, but it seems fun going on a killing spree, then go on a coyote killing spree, then a cow killing spree. Yep, sounds awesome.

Wow... I got this game since the day of it's release and didn't complete more than five missions.

I have nothing against the wolves in that game (yet) but I hav shot more armadillos than was perhaps neccessary. Mountain lions are incredibly annoying though, and deserve to be shot (in the game!). I have'nt actually murdered that many people, but I do have a habit of accidentally mistaking lawmen for hostiles. That happens alot.

I wonder how many people have shot their own horse while riding it, I know I'd have at least one to add to that tally.
I haven't managed that yet, but I did accidentally shoot my Kentucky Saddler horse while trying to haul away a bounty(I whistled for it and it ran into my line of fire). That horse was faster than my other horses and was worth 750 dollars.

*gasp*

Oh the horror. Surely this proves beyond all doubt that the fragile young minds of players are being irreversibly warped by the flood of simulated violence provided by terrible games such as this "Red Dead Redemption". Dear God, if this continues, the terrorists will win!

I will not stand for it! I must lobby my local politicians to have it banned ay once!

Forward! To the office of the nearest elected representative!

According to the 1910 US census, 92 million people lived in the US at that time. So if players have killed 132 million, that means they've killed 143.47% of the entire US population. I guess the terrorists win in this alternate history.

It's alright, they were virtual cowboys and Indians, and those thingys love getting killed, falling off balconies dramatically, ect.

Awwww, 743 of those kills are mine. I feel great now that I've become just another statistic.

I love these kind of stats.

Like the battlefield 2142 stats that after 2 weeks said people had been playing online for 2000 years or so cumulative.

Always fun to read. ;)
Haha, there was a statistic for like this in TF2 during the first year. I forgot exact what it was, but it was in the ballpark of FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND years.

this is why violence needs to be removed from games
That is a poor attempt a sarcasm.
What sarcasm? You dont think mass violence like this has any effect on children's minds?
The game is rated "M" meaning it's meant for people 18 or older. I can see your point if you were to give a child this game and not pay attention to them at all. It all comes down to parenting. I played Mortal Combat, Blake Stone, Doom, Street Fighter, & Quake when I was young (6 years old to present) and I have yet to go out and try to attack someone, cut them in half, shoot them, et cetera. If you make sure your child knows the game is fantasy and NOT to repeat what they see in fantasies you might find that you can let a child play almost anything.
