but back a few months ago, every third thread was pony related, and if it wasnt then about 100 different pony based memes would get shoehorned in somehow (as well as people using terms like anypony and brony with a straight face). Add on to that when a substantial part of the posting populations had avatars which all looked the same, it made distinguishing who the hell was talking damn near impossible.

Oh and crazes are just not cool, specially if your going along with it to seem cool. And before anyone calls me out on this,
1) has the number of pony based threads dropped
2) have the majority of pony avatars returned to normality

Everyone wanted on the bandwagon. And thats even worse than just liking something bad.

I'm not hateful towards the "Brony" phenomenon so much as I am perplexed by it.

I'm not supportive of traditional societal barriers like gender-specific roles and interests, but I still find it odd that a franchise that targets such a specific demographic has ended up hitting it out of the park with a demographic that seems to be the OPPOSITE group of people.

In this case preteen girls vs. teen-aged guys and young adult males.

I vaguely disagree. It's one of the best arguments you can make. Nopony should actively dislike or even hate something they've had no experience with. if they watch it and don't like it, fair enough. But people really need to learn to make informed judgements and opinions instead of the "herpaderp is for leetle girls" nonsense they do now.

An animated anthropomorphic fox is generally regarded, by experts in the field mind you, to be a cartoon.

Though MC could be argued to be a cartoon too, considering how unrealistically he's portrayed.

I was going to write quite a longish post, however...

Threads like these showcase some of the reasons I am sometimes disappointed to be a part of the fandom. "Why do people hate us so much for no good reason? It's not like we've done anything to them." Get over the persecution complex. It's the real world. People like stuff and people hate stuff. MLP just happens to be the flavor of the month(s).

This post accurately sums up what I wanted to say, but I'll also add a few other bits I wanted to say. Watch it, enjoy it, fair play to ya, but do any of the above and I'm not paying attention to a word you have to say on anything.

The TV show however I really don't like for another reason and to sum that up very quickly because this isn't really the thread for it, is that I grew up with cartoons which MLP is trying to recreate and as far as I'm concerned it can't be done.

Also can we please stop saying that its down to popularity? "They hate it because its cool" is starting to become the clarion call of people who don't have a clue.

Ok, first of all. Your villian simply threatened to cause harm. Andross destroyed nearly all life in the system and turned worlds into wastelands (look at Zoness, it is a planet filled with nothing but pollution and machinery).
