its not as bad as it WAS
but back a few months ago, every third thread was pony related, and if it wasnt then about 100 different pony based memes would get shoehorned in somehow (as well as people using terms like anypony and brony with a straight face). Add on to that when a substantial part of the posting populations had avatars which all looked the same, it made distinguishing who the hell was talking damn near impossible.

Oh and crazes are just not cool, specially if your going along with it to seem cool. And before anyone calls me out on this,
1) has the number of pony based threads dropped
2) have the majority of pony avatars returned to normality

Everyone wanted on the bandwagon. And thats even worse than just liking something bad.
"every third thread"

You serious bro?

You really think there was a point where every third thread was pony related?

Actually statistically every one in three threads. Were ponys?

If I could see a screen cap with more then 4 pony threads up at once I would be surpassed.

Going by the definition, Fox isn't a cartoon.

Any more serious? Read the above lines, threats of death and torture. Also if you played the game you would realise how dark some of the dialogue is.
Dictionaries have multiple definitions for a reason.

Miriam Webster: A preparatory drawing, design, or painting.

So yeah, it is a cartoon. And even if you don't think your avatar is a cartoon because it's a 3-D model (2-D computer drawing of a theoretical 3-D object if we're getting technical, so a cartoon anyway), here:

Fox is now a cartoon.

It's a show for 5 year old little girls; that now you, probably an older teenage are watching. I don't like it because most of you who watch this SHOW FOR 5 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRLS are just people who are into it because the rest of the internet is, because you wanna fit in with a stupid ass group.
Everyone knows video games are just toys for little kids. Honestly I think it's pretty obvious that teens/adults who play video games are just sad, lonely, developmentally retarded shut-ins. Imagine if you devoted all that time and energy to something important, like football! Don't you know this computer games thing is just a fad that will blow over, and you'll be left with nothing but wasted time? If you don't believe me, just watch Fox News (the only news station that hasn't been bought out by corporate interests trying to push that poisonous hobby)!
If you're not being facetious, the stupidity of that comment is enough to make me lose faith in people.
I think it's fairly clear he's being sarcastic for the sake of pointing out the inherent silliness of the post he's quoting.
Needs more italics though. Italics are for sarcasm.

Pokemon is marketed towards little boys, 5 year old little boys, everyone likes pokemon, must be some sort of conformist thing.

I'm not hateful towards the "Brony" phenomenon so much as I am perplexed by it.

I'm not supportive of traditional societal barriers like gender-specific roles and interests, but I still find it odd that a franchise that targets such a specific demographic has ended up hitting it out of the park with a demographic that seems to be the OPPOSITE group of people.

In this case preteen girls vs. teen-aged guys and young adult males.

I vaguely disagree. It's one of the best arguments you can make. Nopony should actively dislike or even hate something they've had no experience with. if they watch it and don't like it, fair enough. But people really need to learn to make informed judgements and opinions instead of the "herpaderp is for leetle girls" nonsense they do now.
And no, not just for pony-based animation, but any bloody thing in life.

Except vegetarianism, that's just silly. Animals are delicious.
I get what your saying, but this is a cartoon show, not deciding who's going to rule your country for the next X years. Think realistically. If someone is dead set on hating the show than posting episodes and telling them to watch it isn't going to do anything but make them more upset and giving them more of an excuse to call you preachy.

So wait...People dislike it because of the FANS? Isn't that the same kind of unjustified hate with Twilight and Justin Bieber as well, though? Not that we dislike the thing in question, but the fans who support it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but both of those are ALSO forms of media that have been hated on for no reason, have they not? If you don't like something, don't watch it/observe it! This means that people don't hate the show, but the fans surrounding the show. I, for one, like the show.

uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh........... I heard putting words in your oppositions mouth is a good way to win an argument? We're talking fox mccloud not master chief

An animated anthropomorphic fox is generally regarded, by experts in the field mind you, to be a cartoon.

Though MC could be argued to be a cartoon too, considering how unrealistically he's portrayed.

As of the time of posting, of a sample of 322 Escapists, a more than reasonable sample size, 46.6%(150) find My Little Pony the most annoying. That's triple the second highest option which was the blanket option 'other'.

Honestly, that should just be common sense.

I was going to write quite a longish post, however...

Threads like these showcase some of the reasons I am sometimes disappointed to be a part of the fandom. "Why do people hate us so much for no good reason? It's not like we've done anything to them." Get over the persecution complex. It's the real world. People like stuff and people hate stuff. MLP just happens to be the flavor of the month(s).

People who can't participate in an argument or debate without resorting to macros, or just fall back on the "just watch it before hating it" with YouTube links. Stop it. You're not helping.

"Bronies." No. Just no. I am a person who happens to like a show. I don't need to further segregate myself by adding a dumb moniker.

"Somepony," "Anypony," and "Nopony." For the love of [insert divine entity] stop. This is like nails on a chalkboard to my eyes, and I am one of you. I can't imagine how grating it must be for someone not in the loop.

I'm sorry if I disappoint you, but it needs to be said.
This post accurately sums up what I wanted to say, but I'll also add a few other bits I wanted to say. Watch it, enjoy it, fair play to ya, but do any of the above and I'm not paying attention to a word you have to say on anything.

The TV show however I really don't like for another reason and to sum that up very quickly because this isn't really the thread for it, is that I grew up with cartoons which MLP is trying to recreate and as far as I'm concerned it can't be done.

Also can we please stop saying that its down to popularity? "They hate it because its cool" is starting to become the clarion call of people who don't have a clue.

I'm going to bookmark this thread too, because I know this thread will be created again and I just want to quickly copy and paste what I (and the person I quoted wrote)

Ok, first of all. Your villian simply threatened to cause harm. Andross destroyed nearly all life in the system and turned worlds into wastelands (look at Zoness, it is a planet filled with nothing but pollution and machinery).

He was on the verge of winning after he invaded Corneria before the Star Fox team came.

Any yes, Space ships are cooler and less childish than brightly coloured ponies who believe "friendship is magic".
Could have something to do with the cartoon being "slice of life" and not a war show. Are all sitcoms, reality shows, hell anything without guns, childish too?

Besides, Twilight beat a giant building-eating bear and a hydra with her bear hooves. I'd love to see fox try that.

qualifier: starfox is awesome, so is MLP:FiM

Already aware of it. It's also just a MLP hate thread in disguise. And that thread does in no way represent the majority on the Escapist.

Did you know that the MLP usergroup on this site has 872 members while I'm writing this. It's also the 3rd largest group on this site.
