Let's put this into a slightly different perspective now; that's like a fat kid getting beaten up and you whining about him trying to defend his wobbling flesh from your relentless flurry of manly powerful blows.
What, that analogy doesn't even fit. As the OP said, this was in response to the what memes do people hate thread. Yeah, MLP was one of the voting choices, but there were other choices and people could choose to impute ones they don't like that aren't in the vote.
It can't be denied that MLP has become one big meme. The show itself isn't a meme, but fans have devolved it into one.
Back on track, yeah the majority has voted that they don't like MLP memes, but seriously, how is that an attack on the fans.
I am a major fan of Doctor Who, and I have seen people express hate for the show, but I act civil and just ignore it, so what if some people have different tastes in shows. It's not the end of the world that a majority of people voted in a thread that they don't like MLP memes.
The point people like mjc0961 and I are trying to make is, that of all the fandoms on this site, MLP fans have a very thin skin, and many take offense at the slightest hit that people don't like MLP.

I meant that specific quote. Besides, abuse is abuse, physical verbal or mental.

it's more like the annoying religious kid we all know who always talks about his religion everywhere he goes to the point of others getting ticked off about it, trying to calmly ask he keeps his religion to himself, and when he doesn't they voice their opinions about it, and he gets all butt-hurt because they don't follow the same cult/fellowship/belief/etc.
what's shocking me is that the pony fans are honestly surprised that there are people out there who don't like the show
seriously, look over this post and tell me you couldn't easily see the same thing posted by a christian that suddenly learned one day that atheists exist on the internet and wasn't happy about it
I try not to read comments that aren't vehemently opposed to my own worldview; how can I argue with someone who agrees with me?
But you won't get that kind of response with me. Don't like it? Fine. I only ask you know what you're disliking before declaring it's nothing but turgid pap. And of course, I am not beholden to the reactions of other people, seeing as they are in fact not me.
And as for the religion analogy, THAT is widespread and well-known enough for pretty much everybody to be aware of it and know enough about it to decide whether they're a 'fan' or not.
Because the forum was basically changed from Escapist to OMG PONIES for quite a while. It's not like that now, but it was annoying as hell when you just don't like the show, and after seeing your 10th pony thread in one day you ask what the big deal is and everyone says "Watch it and you will automatically become a bronie!"
Not like every bronie is annoying about it, but that's the first contact many people on this site had with the show.
1. I saw the meme on 4chan first, the fact MLP clogs up the first page and it's filled with nothing but reaction images and responses to the dislike with things like "im gonna love the shit out of you" etc annoyed me, it made /b/ shitter than it used to be. That dislike has stayed with me.
2. The fact the target audience is a kids show makes it a kids show, good writing doesn't change that.
I mean, everypony knows that in MLP:FiM the mane cast embarked on a quest to stop an evil tyrant who planned to stop the Sun rising, casting their world into eternal darkness.
But then I suppose they didn't do it with polygonal spaceships so it's not cool.
Ok, first of all. Your villian simply threatened to cause harm. Andross destroyed nearly all life in the system and turned worlds into wastelands (look at Zoness, it is a planet filled with nothing but pollution and machinery).
He was on the verge of winning after he invaded Corneria before the Star Fox team came.
Any yes, Space ships are cooler and less childish than brightly coloured ponies who believe "friendship is magic".
Yeah you're getting a new message every blink cuz you said some stupid shit and we're calling you out on it. You've got what? A half dozen people rebuking you for raising an invalid point and arguing against you on it and your response has been, at every turn "Nuh-uh! Nuh-uh! He's not a cartoon!" despite us showing otherwise.
Hey now. you're totally valid in you're dislike of My little pony. I was just attacking your statement of "Starfox is not a cartoon"
Although...*checks your comments* Wait, no you can be stupid on those points too.
1.What exactly wrong with being overly positive? Seriously, optimism means lower quality somehow?
2. Yes it's girly however that does not make it a kids show in any way shape or form. The writing is of good enough quality to easily be enjoyed my multiple age groups.
3. yeah well...can't really argue that other than with it's everywhere because it's popular and it's popular because it's surprisingly good.
4.It's not a meme. A show cannot be a meme. It's a popular show that has generated memes but it, in and of itself, is not a meme. It's a pedantic arguement, yes but also an entirely correct one.

Thanks for calling me stupid though, nice to see you are not above throwing direct insults too.
No problem I'm always willing to directly insult people too close-minded to consider other opinions.
1. "Oh no! A pony thread that's just impossible to ignore! I shall go in and insult them for no real reason" Also, "/b/ shittier than it used to be?" Oh silly Matthew, /b/ is and has always been shit and nothing will ever change that.
2. ...and? kids show still doesn't mean it's bad. Pixar makes kids movies that are still of amazingly high quality and enjoyable, again, by all ages.
4. Yup. I'm pedantic. Still right though.
at one point there were several dedicated pony threads a week with many more non pony threads being derailed for god knows what reason. and when that annoyed everyone that didn't care about the show even more threads were made by butt hurt ponies bawwing about "why all the hate" which just annoyed those that didn't care even more because it was clogging up the front page. it seems to have died down now which is nice.
Someone needs to be show me these threads that got derailed, because they are nowhere to be found.
And I know that happened when the fandom was new. It's completely normal, when it's new. And some people want to know why they were hated. Since no one wants to be hated.

Ok, about /b/ always being shit, that is true but when you go on it and there are always a pony thread or 2 on page one it's just plain rude, learn to share and not clog up space all the time.
So what your saying is the pony threads on /b/ are taking up the valuable space that other threads would fill with endlessly repeated memes and reaction images that aren't pony related?
I don't know why you're laughing this is a serious matter. I mean, consider.
There are people
on the Escapist
who have avatars
which contain characters
from the cartoon
My Little Pony.
...
Seriously, how much worse can it get? I don't know why the mods haven't cracked down on these people. The audacity they must have to pull off this heinous and criminal act. It's just sickening. I hope no children happen to glance at the screen while their parents/older siblings happen to be on. The mental scars they're carry through their life... nobody should be made to carry that burden.
You know, your actually right. What kind of society do we live in when there are grown men that will willingly flaunt around feminine avatars in public?! These men should be kept from the rest of society to stop this cancer. And the show should be pulled off to stop from being a horrible blight on mature society.
I blame the colours! Bright colours and pastel shades, in all manner of blasphemous combinations! Flashing all over that screenbox video thing! Little devilish pixies and hellspawn imps taunting, nay, tempting us with their lack of crushing depression and grinding obligations, and over-abundance of well-defined plots!
Let us return to the days of yore! Sensible grey walls! Life must be for living, and living must be for working! We shall wake, work and sleep! It is all that is needed, and it is glorious!
I have nothing against the show itself. Haven't watched it, don't plan to, but I recognise that there are legitimate reasons for people who aren't girls in the 3-10 age group to watch it.
The thing that annoys me is how so many of the fans have seemingly modelled their entire online persona around it, i.e. avatars, quoting the show all the time, etc. It just kinda seems like they're fishing for confrontation about it, or flaunting how bizarre it is for them to like the show.
This is pretty much what I think. I have yet to watch the show, although I plan to at some point to see what I think, but ultimately it just seems like anyone who labels themselves a bronie loses the rest of their personality and will only ever talk about ponies. I like tv shows and I like video games, but none strong enough for them to form my entire online persona, as Nico said.
I mean, everypony knows that in MLP:FiM the mane cast embarked on a quest to stop an evil tyrant who planned to stop the Sun rising, casting their world into eternal darkness.

There we go. "Not my cup of tea." I'm fine with that. you don't have to like it. You also don't have to ***** about it or even pay attention to it.
4. It. Is. Not. A. Meme. "20% Percent cooler" is a meme. "Ten seconds flat" is a meme. "Love and tolerate" is a meme. "Flutterrage" is a meme. My Little Pony: Friendship is magic is not a meme. It is a show that generates a crap ton of memes but is not itself a meme.
I try not to read comments that aren't vehemently opposed to my own worldview; how can I argue with someone who agrees with me?

Ahh, then I guess I'm tardy to the party in the mlp = religion thing
but yeah I don't "Hate" the show, I don't like it (as a show) but I rarely watch TV anyways (or TV shows to be more exact) I will be the first to say that I loved the animation and quickly caught on that it was made in Flash (...I'm a huge fan of Flash)
and just to make it clear, I not saying you or many many of the pony fans are the reason behind the annoyance... it's THOSE fans that almost everything popular has (some more then others)
so it's probably safe to say that the "pony HATE" is from people with no prior understanding of the show except that "isn't is a girls show?" and instead of meeting a nice pony fan to try and coax them into seeing it with them just to give it a try they meet the uber pony fan that pulls the "OMG?!?!?! HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE SEEN IT YET!" **insert 30 minute rant about the show that quickly kills any interest whatsoever after the 50th time they say 'everypony' instead of 'everybody' or '20% cooler' or any of the other memes**
then again I could be way off, I've been working sense 3:00 in the morning and haven't gotten any sleep at all (and it's 6:07pm here)

There are threads on /b/ with good discussion value and they are hard to find, when there are 2 pony threads constantly bumped with nothing but pictures of ponies it's essentially impossible to find one of those rare, good threads.
1. The animation looks like any 5 year old could do better in Adobe Flash
2. The characters are all generic, and have been done before and BETTER
3. There is little to no conflict. At least from what I've seen, the closest thing to conflict they've ever gotten is who gets a fucking ticket to some show.
4. The only relate-able characters are the misanthrope and the shy one. Just. Wow.
Let's put this into a slightly different perspective now; that's like a fat kid getting beaten up and you whining about him trying to defend his wobbling flesh from your relentless flurry of manly powerful blows.

I read that guy's comment, he just stated that this thread is proof that the pony fans don't just stay in their group chat areas.
That is not abuse, it is pointing out a fact. He didn't call pony fans names or do anything remotely hurtful.
And since the main part of what I was saying was about the people in the meme thread harmlessly voting that they hate MLP memes, I take it that you see people voicing that they don't like MLP as abuse towards you and other fans?
That is not abuse, that is just people harmlessly voicing their opinions. I'd be seriously worried about myself and other Doctor Who fans if we started to think that people saying that they don't like Doctor Who is a form of abuse against us.
