I made all my Neopets into Krawks back when they were the new hotness. I had a mutant one and a pirate one.

Good times.

I used to have a red shoryu called Dark fire.

I also remember getting my mom to complete crossword games to help me get money in it, because I was too lazy to do it myself. =D

Wow, I just got a huge nostalgia trip... its been so long since I've ever used that site.
I had a yellow Shoryu on one account.

Her name escapes me to this day.

I also had this brown dog-thing with blue stripes, what were those called?

...I...I still play neopets. xD; I'm mostly on it for my chatgroup, and the occasional odd and borderline decent roleplay I can scrounge up.

I remember I was like, nine when I started playing. I had four kougras named Gem(numbers) or something, followed by diamond_dazzler(numbers), forest(numbers) and something I forget.
Then I lost my password, cried like a baby, and started a new account with an eyrie named Buckbeak(numbers). xD;
Currently, I have a cloud bori named Chiolamya. I tend to stalk the FC because of the whole Chatgroup thing, you might know me as Rarity.

...God I'm a nerd.

Now, I'm not sure about the rest of Escapist, but Neopets pretty much introduced me to the internet. It was the first site I visited daily and enjoyed exploring. I think I must have been about nine or ten. Thinking back, I can only remember good things about that site.

I think most of us will agree that nowadays, the site has really gone to the dogs. Mostly because they actually started to try and milk a profit from it. I can understand wanting to make some money for your work, and I guess the dickloads of ads everywhere just weren't doing it. Fair enough. Even though it's fair, it doesn't mean we have to like it.

A while ago they did a massive rollback, deleting any accounts that hadn't been used in the past year. My first account was one of the many deleted, as I lost my password for it ages ago. The site just feels so empty now. Like, you can really feel the lack of people. Or is that just me?

Anyways, I've still got my latest account. Mainly because I'm OCD about the plushies. If there's one thing I still like, it's being able to collect certain items, and I just adore the plushies. I want them all, as ridiculous as it is.

So, Escapist, have you still got a Neopets account? Do you use it? Come share your Neopets stories or whatever, I'm interested in how many of my fellow Escapists also have fond Neopets memories.

I have two neopets accounts, and I tend to revisit them around December (for the Advent Calendar, of course). I tend to visit in bursts, avidly working toward some goal then dropping everything for a while when I get busy. Don't have much more time to type right now, but if you want my account names or something so we can trade just send me a PM :3

I was actually introduced to the internet with Kazaa, when it was a P2P program. Got a lot of video game MIDIs and video game mp3s back then. Then I started using Cheatplanet for video game cheats circa 2001. Then I started playing Neopets circa 2003. Then I started Runescape and webdesigning in 2005. Then I got recruited to a forum off my website. The rest is history I guess...WAAAY too much to discuss. Heading to college in the fall...probably doing some sort of communication studies.

What always made me REAL mad was the giving tree never had stuff, it was always taken before I could get it D: I had a scorchio and one day this dog thing just showed up. Eventually I built a house and forgot about the whole game when I discovered Runescape.

EDIT: Oh god I still remember my username and password! <3

Double edit: Today my first neopet is 2189 days old, this makes tomorrow his 6th birthday, what a coincidence!

From the "Complete Monster [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CompleteMonster]: Web original [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Monster/WebOriginal]" trope [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TVTropesWillRuinYourLife] (With all tropes included just for fun):

Page image:

Remember when [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids] Neopets [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Neopets] was a kid's site [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DarkerAndEdgier]?

Razul [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ArchnemesisDad]: An emperor who had a lust for immortality so great, he cast a curse upon his own city - and his own son - to become a fiery demon, and when he returned, he attempted to murder his daughter-in-law.
Lord Kass [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DragonAscendant]: After Lord Darigan [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NobleDemon] was defeated, Kass ascended to the leadership of the Citadel through blackmail, bribery, intimidation, and propaganda, and then waged war against Meridell to gain power. More than a few fans are reminded [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything] of Hitler [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ThoseWackyNazis]. Unfortunately, he's a huge victim of Draco in Leather Pants [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DracoInLeatherPants].
Alexander Krawley [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SnakeOilSalesman]: The mysterious villain of the Tale of Woe, Krawley tricked an entire town into taking a potion that would turn them into monsters, and apparently caused the death and abandonment of The Meepit Oaks Sanitorium [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BedlamHouse], all for kicks [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ForTheEvulz].
The Bringer of Night [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GodOfEvil]: A silent [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheQuietOne] demigod of death who attempted to commit genocide [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OmnicidalManiac] on an entire species due to being Made of Evil [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MadeOfEvil].
Captain Scarblade [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ADisgraceToBlackbeard]: Most pirates in Neopia are pirates who don't do anything [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything]. Scarblade averts that; he's as vicious and cruel as Real Life [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RealLife] pirates, and attempted to destroy Maraqua simply because it didn't stay destroyed. He, too, is subject to Draco in Leather Pants [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DracoInLeatherPants].
Note: Despite the page image, Xandra [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DarkMagicalGirl] doesn't qualify. She's a Well-Intentioned Extremist [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WellIntentionedExtremist] who wanted to create a new world without the rule of the Faeries, because she viewed them as lazy and greedy. To do so, however, she unleashed Wraiths that suck the life out of other Neopets [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HighOctaneNightmareFuel], turned the Faeries and some of her own allies to stone [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TakenForGranite], and caused the destruction of Faerieland [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ColonyDrop]. If anything, Xandra set the stage for a real Complete Monster[/url to make her return...
The Darkest Faerie [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheFairFolk]: The Mistress of Nightmares, the Darkest Faerie attempted to drop Faerieland into Neopia well before Xandra did. Not only that, but she may have been un-petrified with the rest of the faeries...

I myself am permabanned, apparently. If it ever becomes known to admin who i am, my account is immediately removed. I pissed Adam off gooooood, it seems.

does that asparagus-riddled jerkoff still run the site, or has he finally cut and run?
Hoo boy, what did you do to earn that?
A couple things: One, I knew Adam outside of neopets, and once he sold out the site, he started alienating people he knew. Two, I was vocal about my disapproval (vocal, but never inappropriate) about the state of the site, and various directions that neopets went in, which of course cannot be tolerated. Three, I was a longtime user, and there was (there may not be now) a policy to remove oldguard users from the site in order to keep the membership all fresh. If you did anything objectionable, you could get banned quickly. My own account was instabanned without warning when i accidentally typed "ass" instead of "as", and did not notice my typo.

Oh, and then there was my talking about an embarassing glitch that existed in the early days, where you could get NEGATIVE POINTS. I ended up about 100k in the negative, which I had to earn back up to zero over many, many games of cheat and meerca chase. They didnt like me for that

I never bought one. Partly because the only store near me that sold them sold them for around $90, and partly because at the time I thought they were too immature for me.

Neopets introduced me to Flash content on the internet. I remember when they released that "Invasion of Meridell" game or whatever it was called. That was my first experience with strategy gameplay.

My mother literally had to pull me off of the computer. As in, pry my fingers off of the desk and everything. I was adamant that I needed to beat "one more level".

Did that game even have an endpoint?

I thought I remembered them, but everyone's talking about the internet and a website, so I guess I'm thinking of Gigapets. But I remember the name Neopets.

Neopets has to be one of the oldest running online games ever! I remember playing there in 2000 and still have the account. Can't believe the site hasn't dropped dead yet.

Oh man, I do remember that. I went there a few months ago and it has indeed gone to the dogs. Played it a lot when I was around 9 to 11. When I had one though I did really like it, also introduced me to the internet.

I had a Red Lupin I think it was called. That and a Snake thingy.

I think just for old times sake I'll go back and start a new one. Not sure how long it will last however, but my nostalgia is strong.
