Sounds good to me!Hammeroj said:Every victimless crime is no longer a crime. Screw limitations, remove all of them.

Whoo hoo, parenting license! Let's do this Beta Colony style. (Bujold's books, for those who haven't read them.) I completely agree that the gene pool needs some freaking chlorine, and that the world is overpopulated and really needs to slow down for about a generation so we can cut back the general numbers. But my proposal as to the criteria are another whole thread.novixz said:brandon237 said:You are right, not letting parents who cannot look after and pay for their children bring them into a poor world where they are likely to be given up for adoption and add to the myriad of social problems society faces would be a bit cruel now...novixz said:Dularn said:The law I would introduce would be a parenting licence. All individuals who want to have a child wiil need to pass a test that determines whether they are fit to raise children.
That can be a bit cruel.
I agree with Dularn whole-heartedly, I live in a country plagued by illiteracy and children growing up in townships, 5 per family, dying young, getting diseases and going into drugs they get cheap on the street that are as much shoe-cleaner as plant, growing up to become criminals, homeless, poor and brining the economy down. This shit needs to stop.
Maybe you should start to "thin the herd" yourself a bit.....
OT: What kind of test would this be?
If any police officer or anything in law enforcement remotely believes or just feels like it. They can search my house believing I am a terrorist, completely ignoring the 4th amendment. You need a search warrant to do such things.fibchopkin said:Why? That's kind of a weird one to have a thing against.inFAMOUSCowZ said:Patriot Act GONE, damn I'd be so happy if it was gone.
Let me just start by saying marijuana contains 5-10 times the tar in a cigarette, the only reason people don't see that man effects of it is because you don't smoke 2 packs of joints a day. And it was just one law you could get rid of, but if you want to get topless in public that's fine with me.Aurora Firestorm said:Whoo hoo, parenting license! Let's do this Beta Colony style. But this was about removing a law, not putting one in place. I'd say...remove whatever laws are there that allow people to do stupid crap like suing McDonald's for having hot coffee. I mean, really now, if you don't have the brains to see that hot coffee is hot, you shouldn't be able to go to court over the damages from it. America needs to cut its warning label quantity in half. There are even labels on the martial arts mats we use to say that "any activity involving motion creates the risk of death." REALLY NOW.
Legalize marijuana, ban cigarettes. Stupid tobacco smokers get the hell off my city streets; I don't want to have a coughing fit and get cancer every time I walk by a doorway. Kicking it out of public buildings was a good step; let's take it further. (No sympathy for people who are giving other people death diseases.) Create "sunshine rooms" for people who want to do some of the harder stuff safely. There will always be drugs, though, that I don't think should be legal, just because they royally screw you up so bad you should stay thirty feet away from them at all times.
Ditch the laws disallowing public toplessness. If men can take off their shirts to cool down, they better suck it up and let us do it too. Let's grow some collective maturity, now. I'm pissed that I have to overheat while guys don't.
EricDraven: there are Romeo and Juliet Laws to deal with age of consent issues like that, where the 15 and 17 year olds are dating and then the latter turns 18. I still don't think anyone is mature enough in high school to have sex, but yeah.
Your life and your body are yours, but everyone is in a relationship of some kind with other people...and you're hurting the hell out of them when you do this. That's why I'm okay with there being laws against destroying yourself, whether by death or otherwise.Fetzenfisch said:Everything that forbids people to control their own fate.
May it be suicide, drug abuse, you name it. We all got a single life on this planet and thats all we get. What we do with this is our very own decision and no one else has the right to choose for us.
If you like to end your life, do it
If you like to try every drug ever invented, feel free to do so.
Your life and body are your most basic possessions, whoever tries to outrule you here has to be fought
(i neither do drugs , nor do i want to waste that little time of existence that was given to me, but i just hate the way some governments want to treat their people.)
2nd law on my list is the civil ownership of weaponry, there is no reason for this. Period.
Ahhh crumbs... you guys are right- for some strange reason I confused the soldiers and sailors act with the patriot act. Sorry- I agree, communications monitoring and illegal entry being legalized sucks- and is big brotherish.inFAMOUSCowZ said:If any police officer or anything in law enforcement remotely believes or just feels like it. fibchopkin said:Ahhh yes. As both an Iraq vet and an army wife,(not to mention a paralegal) I'm pretty well versed on it... and in favor of it. Are you actually able to answer my initial question, (which was in no way meant to be offensive) or are you just going to be snarky?

yeahhh because dope isnt addictive and doesnt influence the brain....do you know any hard users of marijana? they may not smoke 2 fictious "packs" of joints but probably 6-8 joints or up to 20 heads in a bong.Aurora Firestorm said:Your life and your body are yours, but everyone is in a relationship of some kind with other people...and you're hurting the hell out of them when you do this. As for tar in marijuana...yes, like you said, people don't smoke 2 packs of joints a day. Tobacco is addictive. At least give the poor guys a drug against which they have a fighting chance, not one which sucks in your brain forever.
