Another reason that I'll add to my list of why I'm glad I didn't buy New Vegas...

Not that I really wanted to play it, but I hope my PC copy would work properly if I decided to. This is quite nonsense, really. Ship a broken game, try to fix it but only break it more. Pah.

Anyone else miss the days where you bought yourself a nice PS2 or GameCube game and it worked properly because they had to make sure it would work when they shipped it because what shipped was the final version? Sure, PC always had patches, but at least on consoles developers used to have to make an effort for the game to be finished before launch.

See, this is why I usually wait a couple years before getting an Obsidian game. I hate bugginess, and they're pretty bad about patching. Also, it's just cheaper.

Wow, playing a game on a platform it blatantly wasn't designed for has negative effects? What a shock!

Why do game companies show a consistent failure to test their damn patches?

This is something that any degree of playtesting would've caught before it went out.

We are not your fucking testers, test your own shit.

Gamebryo will haunt Obsidian's dreams forever. I'm glad that engine is at its end.

Don't believe Bethesda's marketing. There's about a 85% chance the Skyrim engine is just a graphical update to Gamebryo with a new name.

yeah i went to play new vegas just the other day and found significantly more glitches in the first hour of the game than i had after 1 and a half previous playthroughs. i thought that was odd. now i know why. thats frustrating.

Somehow, I knew Obsidian was going to fuck this up. Everyone in that damn building needs to be fired and banned from ever working in the game industry again.

This article is a little confusing, is it Bethesda or Obsidian that patch the game?
As far as I know, both. Obsidian is the developer, Bethesda is the publisher who funds the developer and handles distribution. Both could be seen at fault.
Well the game was developed by Obsidian, but tested by Bethesda, so the same may be true for the patches. Bethesda may just be making the patches themselves, while having Obsidian work on the DLC.

Which isn't too re-assuring, since Bethesda's games can be buggy as hell themselves. With Fallout 3 requiring about 7 patches, and its still pretty buggy.

My rocket launcher and heavy incinerator still are randomly unusable as enemies take no damage from them, but after patch it might have gotten better.

However I can't use Euclids C-finder at all anymore as it won't actually fire.

I just wanna use my deadly space laser Q_Q

Wow, consoles are getting more crap than a septic tank.
Nope, i just blame the developers, they created the patch, probably got the coding all muddled up.

I must be the only one who hasn't had a serious problem with New Vegas. Serious meaning freezing, corrupted saves, quests broken so badly that you can't proceed.

I did encounter a few bugs while playing, but they were easily fixed through the console, thats this ( ~ ) console.

For the $25 I paid for New Vegas during the Christmas holiday sale on steam, its a golden game.

I find this unbelievably funny. No, I dont think it is fun that other people's games collapse, I feel for them. It sucks when it happens.

No.

I find it funny. Cause I have never had a single crash in-game. At worst I've had some bad FPS. Fallout New Vegas works perfectly for me oddly enough..

Makes me glad I have a ps3 over a 360. Oh PSN being dead lack of some titles and subpar ports of others make me not glad. But my Fallouts rarely freeze and never ever corrupt saves. Its of course sad that "doesnt freeze too bad" is the good version of the game.
I originally heard that the ps3 was the only one that had additional glitches with this patch: with any saves in or after the Dead Money dlc.
Is this the same issue or does the 360 have a whole different problem.

I can?t say I?m surprised. In fact, I would?ve been (pleasantly) surprised if this patch actually worked.
At this point there?s probably little incentive for them to really fix this game. It?s already got too much of a reputation as a broken piece of crap to make much more sales. And because it?s such a piece of crap it swiftly dropped in price so the new sales aren?t worth as much anymore anyway. With no oversight or regulations within the industry, I don?t see them getting this game fixed at all.
Maybe the industry really does need a lemon law, or at least some sort of (internal) body (like the esrb) that regulates the QC process and punishes companies that release buggy crap they can?t even fix after half a year and several patches.
