I facepalmed when Nintendo announced it, I'll be facepalming if this rumor is true. Just give me a damn gamepad that is normal.

If this is true then I wouldn't be that surprised , MS are trying to cram touch screen into everything nowadays it seems. Even in windows 8 which is just... strange. Touch screen works fine on phones and tablets but not so well on consoles and PCs.

This is making me want to buy a "720" less and less

All i want is a normal games console, not one that is focusing on movies, or music or TV or the Internet. I want a games console that focuses on games. Why is it so hard now?

Well, the question is whether they are including touch screen support or building the entire OS/the entire controller around touchscreen. No prizes for guessing which one would make me rage hard. If its just including support then who cares? It will be like voice commands in Windows 7. They are there, but no one uses them and no one needs to.
From the look of the preview and dev beta builds so far the touch screen stuff is there and on constantly, theres a way to disable it via screwing with the registry but that will likely change as its a beta.

Plus they have totally removed the windows button on the desktop and the start menu in favour of the MAC style app screen/tiles. Its like they are trying to piss people off .

I'm not looking forward to the day when touchscreens and touch-buttons take over for real buttons. My phone has a touch-powered Back key and it's just way too easy and annoying to accidentally close what you're doing with one accidental palm movement.

I hope they include the option to keep the old taskbar somewhere. I dont think I can live without it.
Same for me, personally I think I will be sticking with 7 since there is no need to upgrade unlike with XP to vista/7 and I can see a lot of other people doing the same. Heck some people are still swearing by XP.

Well, if this is true, it means that microsoft is copying nintendo......again.
More like "rumour."

Don't care as long as it's optional, though.

Maybe they toss these rumors out there and try to gauge how well it will be accepted.

I swear I would still be using XP if some of the newer games were compatible. Took a while for me to leave it. Still, I have to admit 7 is better. But it took a lot to get me to switch.
I have nothing against XP per say it was and still is a very good and stable OS. Technology has left it in the dust though sadly. The one thing that does bug me are those guys who go apeshit for using 7 not XP.

Huh... Well I'd need more info before I can make a judgement but I think i'd be okay with it. Just please Microsoft, don't call it the 720... 'S on terribad levels of naming.

And I find the idea of "copying" being used in a derogatory way to be terribly quaint. Two years of business school will do that do you i suppose.

The controllers are already really huge and ugly, why make it worse?! Also, that's REALLY expensive for a new console.

You know the average response to anything on this website seems to be "it different, it bad" when it comes to stuff like this.

They picture they have made me laugh so hard.
OT - I am not really sure why a Xbox controller would need a touchscreen on it.

I'd prefer more power over something that should be optional, but I'm not complaining (yet).

I'm still not convinced this is a great thing to add to my controller, but it looks better than that massive tablet that is the Wii-U controller.

What would this be used for that I can't use buttons or even the kinect for?

Ugh, please no. Touch screens are not efficient in console gaming! Has anyone tried to play iOS games for hours on end? You end up with major heat spots on your fingers from the friction.

Plus, a lot of my controllers get dropped and thrown around. I don't think I can afford to get a new one every time I drop one...

This just seems really pointless. I guess I'll hold my tongue until I see it in action, but all that comes to mind is a ridiculous price tag and an ergonomically obnoxious controller.

Don't report in the title.... Put RUMOR otherwise you're just providing false information.

Now, if this is true I will have to abandon xbox and buy myself a PS4.

Keep controllers simple people. I don't want to worry about breaking a touchscreen when I throw my control across the room in blind rage.

Personally, I wish companies would just stick with the generic controller because: IT'S FINE!!!!
Why are they trying to fix what ain't broke. It's theory has worked for the past 15 or so years stop "innovating". It's not helping immersion or fun.
