I love how there's absolutely no indication that it's a zombie movie whatsoever. Hell, at this point, maybe it's not. Still, it might be fun to go see.

Oh, it's gonna suck. But as a tradition I will go and see it. Then I can at least try this 3D gimmick that has been growing rapidly lately.

How is it surprising it wasn't bad? The Resident Evil Degeneration wasn't bad, good action wise.

it looks like Alice is going up against Las Plagas in this one. thats...thats great...really great. And Ali larter? Yea...fun...hmm...

okay i have never liked the resident evil series, movie or games. i dont get their appeal. Left 4 Dead accomplished what Resident Evil couldnt, makeing a fun zombie game. The second movie (Apocalypse) was the only one i liked at all. the only good thing that i think ever came out of the resident evil series was Leon S. Kennedy and lets face it, no one wants to see a live action version of him because Hollywood will just screw him up too and we really dont need that.

even with Leon, i didnt even really like RE4. I know. blasphemy! right? i hated the controls and the storyline. you know what i really liked though, Resident Evil: Degenration. mostly cause we didnt need to PLAY it.

while im on this, WHEN WILL THIS 3D FAD END!? Seriously, i dont understand that. i hate watching 3D movies, plus 3D ruins movies. you know what annoys me most, this obligatory moments in a 3D movie where some character or floating thing on screen gets pointed at the audience. its the main "whoa 3D" thing.

shit im rambling...sorry

didn't make me want to kill myself so that's a start. Also, is that a remix of "The Outsider" by "a Perfect Circle" i hear? Oh hell yes!
Considering it was a remix made for the last film's soundtrack, it's not completely out of place. As a side note, the same tune was used on a trailer for Repo Men as well.

The first one was OK, the second was actually pretty good, and the third movie was utter crap. So far the series is across the board as far as quality goes, so you can't really blame me if I'm a little concerned about this movie, but the trailer looks pretty good.

kill 99% .
that is an unfounded complaint.

the apocalyptic nonsense was an accident.
What does that have to do with my point. My complaint was the fucked up the entire world. They didn't just kill most of the population, they messed up the ecosystem and killed off or changed (not for the better if the T-virus was involved) god knows how many species so why the hell are they researching Las Plagas?

Look. The reason Umbrella was researching the T-Virus (and the G-Virus, the Progenitor Virus and every other virus) was for biological weapons research. (There were also plans for its use in medical research but the bio weapon capability was their big thing.) That much carried over from the games. This meant they planned to develop and sell them as weapons. Whether or not they meant to cause an apocalypse is not the point. Practically everyone is DEAD! There is no point to continue that line of research if there are no buyers. So why are there Las Plagas? They serve no practical value towards medical research, there is no point in weapons research, and from the trailer it seems that they still have plenty of solders who are quite loyal to the only people keeping them from the zombies.

I can only think of two reasons why Umbrella would be involved with Las Plagas.

1. They are holdover from past experiments. Maybe another section was researching the Plagas was the T-Virus research was going on. The race to make the first usable B.O.W. Not that farfetched. The military has done similar in the past. However that would make them predate a fair amount of T-Virus research. Also not big problems since the movies have long stopped caring about the games storyline. I still don't get how they would end up in combat though.

2. The Las Plagas were discovered and they want to use them to control the zombies. This could easily tie into my first point. However it being newly discovered helps explain why they were never mentioned beforehand. (Though that could easily be explained away by ?It wasn?t important enough for screen time but they did discuss it.?)

Or it could be RE 4 and it only remotely connects to Umbrella because there the only other humans alive.

[Edit] I spend WAY to much time thinking about crap like this.
well MY thing was you worded it to sound like they did it on purpose...

it could be that the awakened the plagas... like in re4... only on ACCIDENT get it?

or, they could be "new random zombie lolz" which would be fucked up really...

Oh god. Complete nerd rage. Interesting that a lot of people posting in this forum are only leaving enough info that could easily fit into a twitter...

Who cares about the story contents? As far as i care, its basically its own movie premise but with the Resident Evil logo slapped on. Would there be as much flaming if it had carried the original Biohazard name? Or the bad guy was called Parasol instead of Umbrella?

Scrub away the RE greasepaint and all you get is another generic action-horror clown. You shouldn't be looking for a ground-breaking movie that stemmed from a ground-breaking game - you should just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

(Also the music in the trailer was awesome. Thanks for pointing it out, Scrumpmonkey.)
It would still be a movie with a dumb story who cold be hold on a post stamp, with shitty acting, and coping every thing who is popular...

Please Capcom,

Make a live action movie based on your actual games. As a self-admitted Leon fangirl, I guarantee you I will pay to see a live action movie based on RE2 and/or 4. Just paste the terrible dialog in from the game, I don't care! Cast Chris Evans as Leon, he seems to be in everything else nowadays, so why not! Hell, give me Ashley played by Miley Cyrus! I swear to God I will watch whatever piece of driveling tripe you put on the screen BASED ON YOUR ACTUAL GAMES.

Just no more Milla Jovovich. I'm begging you.

Yours Truly,

Lolth

P.S. If Milla kills Wesker, I will personally place flaming bags of dog poo on the producers' doorsteps. Anyone who would like to is welcome to join me.

the only reason I would see this movie is if they show the hundreds of alice clones shown sleeping naked in pods in the last movie fighting zombies.

Milla Jovovich in a tight spandex multiplied by a thousands fighting zombies.
with some borderline soft core porn elements thrown in.

Wesker? Executioners? Head eating, we'll still call them zombies even though they've been infested with a parasite? What the hell is happening, my spongey thinky thing hurts.

Well, from the fact that in the trailer there was Neo Wesker, throwing his glasses (There where so many jokes to be had in between my friends when playing this game.), the executioner and the las plagas zombies, it looks to be a crossover, which, seeing has the only fun thing about RE5 was the stupidity and dodgy-ness of it and owning zombies, I'm not too excited.

*EDIT* From what I can guess from the trailer this is an alternate universe where wesker succeeded in his attempt at released the virus.
