Got the demo for this game sunday. My roommate (who hates anything non-MW2) played the demo, liked it and bought the game. He then played it the rest of the afternoon beat it and now he hates non-MW2 games even more. (Felt like $20 was too much for such a short "Flash Game").
your roommate sounds boring as hell.

anyway, i bought this game almost immediately after i played the demo. havent beaten it yet, but have thoroughly enjoyed the disturbing deaths and intricate obstacles.

It seems like a smarter, more refined version of... I Wanna Be The Guy.

Oh My GOD... O.O This seems just like the game for me. It reminded me of Coma [http://www.kongregate.com/games/wittyhobos/coma] but Darker and (hopefully) a lot longer. Seriously, this is the kind of game I adore. :D

Simple gameplay? Check.
Clever puzzles? Check.
Beautiful art? Check.
Dark sense of humour? Check.
Decent story? Check.
I was with you until the 'story' part. It's a hauntingly beautiful and simple game, reminding me of Ico or Braid. My only real criticism is that it seems to have a story that the game isn't that interested in telling.

Gotta admit. This game looks brilliant.

I love things that tickle the imagination and thought-process at the same time.

I find it odd that a downloadable title is the main reason I want a 360. Honestly, this game looks absolutely fantastic to me!

Looks awesome.

I'm calling it. Silhouettes are the new cell shading.

Look for it in the new Donkey Kong Country and Shank.

I don't get why indie developers agree to go sole platform... surely it only limits their income and image. Oh well, no Limbo for me..
Seems to me that only platoformers are indie games. Think about it bro whens the last time you saw a big name release game of a pure platformer? Little big planet and the latest ratchet and clank game.

Yeah... It seems I jumped to conclusions. :p (or maybe it was just wishful thinking...)

Well, got home last night and ensconced myself in front of this game, and whilst it is indeed a lot of fun I now have a hatred of those glowing brain worm things. And someone really needs to teach that kid how to swim.

EDIT - Thanks for the recommend, Susan!

Sorry, 'think you may have misunderstood me. My post was concerning the horrible habit indie games have of being exclusive to only one platform.

I know it's probably the fault of the platform owners abusing the fact hat indie developers have very little footing to argue their point on, but 'fact is it still does more harm to the indie movement than good.

I didn't see any humour in Limbo. I was just disturbed as hell. In a good way.

Maybe if the character had been different I would have found it funny as times, but that fact that your were playing as a child just made every death much more disturbing. Been a long time since I've died in a game and had to look away, which happened multiple times for me playing this game.
that is called black humour. Alot of people don get it.
Humour suggests a joke. There's no joke. Just dark.

This is my first XBL-game-purchase, and I don't regret it.

It's really quite good - it's dark, it's difficult, the atmosphere is enthralling, and above all it's a ton of fun.

I can only hope they port it to PC and PSN, like they did with Braid :-(

Susan, how long would you say the game is?
That depends entirely on how good you are at these particular puzzles. You might sail through, or you might be stumped by one for hours - it'll most likely be a mix of both. Limbo is very like Portal in that respect. To do absolutely everything, including finding all the easter eggs? Perhaps five hours.
The thing is though I find the game lasting for quite a while because I get completely stumped on a couple of puzzles and think 'bugger this , this is just getting frustrating' so I go play a different game and end up thinking of the solution half way through so I go back do that puzzle for instance right now I am trying to think of a solution to the mine cart and eletrical floor problem (sorry for any spoilers I didn't think it nessecary to put it in a spoiler box and also because I haven't figured out how yet) anyway I'm sure it will come to me one day. Great review and a great game I highly suggest you pick the demo up atleast.

The art style is very similar, possibly the same developer?
Thanks for posting that link, great game!

OT: Nice review. As always the indie market manages to catch you by surprise - in a pleasant way, that is. Don't know about the price tag, I'll wait a while to see if it goes down or Steam gets it a wee bit cheaper, but somewhere down the line I'm getting this.

Ooooh. You meant platform as in system.

I saw this advertised a while back and only realised today that it was out.

It is absolutely brilliant visually, the kind of artistic style I love. The game-play can be a little frustrating, but not in the way which makes you want to throw the controller at the screen.

I haven't finished it yet but if you love puzzle platformers and creepy visuals and atmopshere then I also recommend it. I also love it's twisted humour, it reminds me of Johnny The Homicidal Maniac.
