The only thing I can think of is rice. Small, white, round, light up a room by lifting the spirits of those around, and rice is the most eaten food in the world.

That's a stupid riddle, because of it's hypothetical nature in "if a rooster lays an egg". The fact that roosters don't normally lay eggs makes no difference, because the phrasing of the question suggests we should assume that this hypothetical rooster can. In real life, A rooster would have a lot of trouble getting to the roof of a barn in the first place, because they can't fly for shit. Is that the right answer too? To hell with this, rant over.

Actually, that's wrong. It's man. You see, in the morning, (The beginning of a person's life,) They crawl on four legs. In the afternoon, (The middle of a person's life,) They walk on two legs.
