anytime I see something like this I wish that there was an ap that could just punch the bastards who do this shit.

Remember all Robin Williams would want us to do was remember the laughs and try to bring as many smiles to peoples faces as possible.

Funny how quick some escapist users jump on the "anonymous-are-the-scum-of-society" bandwagon whenever a news piece about anonymous is brought up, but are perfectly fine to condone or even call them to take action in such cases.
It's actually only "funny" if it's the same people which there's no evidence here that it is. There are a bunch of Escapists who are pro-anonymous. That's kind of like saying "It's funny how humanity likes to jump on the "murder is bad bandwagon" but what are all serial killers? Human."
I'm not saying all, but if you keep an eye out on such topics you'll recognize a few names that has no problem bashing anonymous and 4chan, even making bold statements that the world is better off without them, etc but has no problem hoping on the bandwagon and calling on the aid of those they considered "internet trash". Anyways, it's gone a bit off topic so I'll draw the line here. Just calling out hypocrisy when I see it.

You know what actually got me. Not that two users did this. That was bad enough. But apparently the message blaming her for her dad's death was retweeted... 21 times! Jayus!

I'm glad the users got suspended, I just wish their were more legal ramifications to this... and then part of me doesn't because all I can imagine is me yelling at someone on twitter and having the cops at my door.

But I do hope that Zelda Williams does know that those two fuckwads are the minority and most of us have nothing but sympathy and empathy for what she's going through.

And I thought it was bad when a bunch of insensitive pricks had the nerve to berate her because they thought the fact that they were a fan of her father meant she was some how obligated to share any private pictures of she had of him with the world. But this twitter shit takes the cake, if I got my hands on the bastards or the 'people' who shared their sick opinions and pictures I'd string them up by their ankles and torment them till they were begging for mercy or death.

How stupid other people are. I don't think the internet granted us introspection yet.

Jeez, even 4chan as a whole didn't find that funny (seriously, there were entire threads devoted to the man).
Oh good. That means my bet that 4chan is going to go after these morons might pull through. 10 bucks with a co-worker.

This is no surprise. There will always be a "better" grade of asshole that other assholes look down upon, especially when the thought of bringing someone "more powerful" down or a fleeting moment of infamy is on the line. And twitter has never been a shining beacon of sanity and sense at the best of times.

Sure as hell doesn't excuse it though. Their pussy weak "Whaa, it was a joke, whaa" apology is just icing on this mess they thought was a cake.

Welp, whatever happens to them next, they gonna have a hard time of it. Not gonna be making a lot of friends with this stunt.

Y

But on a serious note, most of the internet has responded to Robin Williams' death by remembering him warmly, or with messages that people suffering with depression needn't suffer alone. Overall the net has been a nicer place than it usually is, at least in my own personal bubble. Such a shame that a few people had to ruin it by being vile idiots.

I hope Zelda is coping ok and has all the support from friends and family that she needs.

I meant we as a species, not we as individuals.

[quote/]Zelda herself was named after the titular character of Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series, so perhaps the best way to close out this unfortunate story is with a brief moment between father and daughter.[/quote]

inb4 someone knee-jerkedly defends the abuse in a misguided attempt to preemptively protect free speech.
I'm someone who would normally try, but this is straight up malicious trolling. It's almost like they want Zelda to suicide too, for no other reason than being the daughter of a celebrity.

How did they come to possess these pictures in the first place? The line of prosecution needs to begin at who released the images to the public and also to those who exposed them to the mourning daughter.

I can't imagine how pictures of the deceased could be leaked like that, our police and government would never allow it.

The picture was photoshopped.

Why? It was an easy mistake to make.
I'm Asian and this is a public place. My honour has been sullied by my mistake. Now I have to decide whether go for the duel or seppuku option.

Amazing how many truly disgusting people are out in this world. People like this need to be dragged out in the middle of the street and executed.

To the people who are surprised by this, explain to me to why you (all) think people on the internet would be nice? Even in a situation like this.
This is why people should stay out of this and its also, none of our business.

This title made it sound like it was some huge outcry of abuse towards her when it was only two people who sent links...I mean shit, yeah it sucks for her and I understand that she's upset, but two abusive people out of millions of condolences isn't exactly surprising.

Some of the people on Twitter rarely surprise me but when they do something like this it saddens me. Though a small percentage and it seems even the usual culprits wouldn't stoop to this it doesn't make Twitter community look any better.

Kudos to Escapist for calling this what it is, abuse, and not indulging the perpetrators by calling it trolling, or them trolls.
I think there is a more apt word for the perpetrators but using one of them almost certainly breaches the community standards here.
