Eh, it looks alright, much better than I thought it would from early pictures of the filming, but still it doesn't feel anything like Robocop.
The black painted robocop looks stupid, but I feel like it's supposed to. From the trailer it looked like in the movie they still have the original silver robocop design, and that they retool it somewhere around the midpoint of the movie and make him all black and "tactical" as a gimmick to make him more appealing to investors. So the fact that it looks terrible could be a self aware reference to how stupid these reboots are, or I could be too hopeful and it's really just nothing. Either way, "tactical black" robocop still looks terrible.
Other than that, it looks like the movie is playing things way too straight, and it doesn't seem like it's as dark as the original robocop. The original had this darkly cynical sense of humor about it that really made it interesting and unique for it's time, and that's what really made the movie fun. I don't see any of that here, although this could just be because it's a trailer.
Anyway, doesn't look amazing, but it looks decent enough that I'll probably give it a watch at my local dollar theater. Who knows, it might end up being a pleasant surprise, like the new Judge Dredd.
