See that "games as art" bull? I know why we can't be taken seriously.lRookiel said:I don't think the industry needs a game like this, it would just give the press more "fuel for the fire" against us. >.>
It's an interesting idea but the press/government would just go mad about this, starting another "Stop violent games" campaign. :/
Not really. Saints row is an insanity simulator that features gangs. The OP seems to be after something a little (or a lot) more grounded.Thaliur said:is that not really close to Saints' Row?
Don't know. Doesn't sound very different from Saints Row.The_Blue_Rider said:Well it undoubtedly sounds fun, however a game like this would never release due to the fact that it would seem to be glorifying crime. San Andreas is about as close as we'll ever to get to a big release game anywhere near this
Racist =/= prejudice against blacks. Just sayin'. If you use latinos, it would still be called racist. Heck, probably even if it features a black person pedestrian, it could cause some sort of outcry. Have you learned nothing from video game haters?chuckman1 said:You can't set a game in the hood without it being racist? Besides it's not like every hood is mostly black.krazykidd said:That sounds so stereotypical. And no way it won't be viewed as slightly racist . Don't let a American developper get their hands on that idea , it's gonna be riddles with black people doing drugs and killing people . Then Again rockstar did the same this with San andreas . Looking back ( since i really liked that game back when i was in highschool ) that game is full of racism and very offensive ,not that it wasn't also extremely fun.
South Phoenix is mostly latino
Some hoods are mostly white or asian too it's not like it has to be set in detroit (a mostly black hood).
Why not let an american developer get their hands on the idea? Ghetto cultures big in America.
OK, you get an internetz for reminding me of Destiny's Price. If somebody does decide to go for it, just take it with a grain of salt, some wackiness is involved (cybernetic DJs, for the win, though) however, some of the higher quality and most mature (as opposed to juvenile) material from Black Dog.malestrithe said:A Mage the Ascesnsion Supplement called Destiny's Price deals with exactly the kinds of things your interested in talking about.
Add to that the Bone Gnawers Tribe book and the Book of the City from Werewolf the Apocalypse, and any of the city by night books from vampire and you have enough raw information to at least fake the game you want to play.
Thank you, I don't understand why it's so hard to understand for others.MisterM2402 said:No, he means "ME" as in "myself"; he's saying that *he* was a rape simulator! :OSilent Anima said:ME? As in Mass Effect? Rape simulator?DoPo said:Remember how ME was a rape simulator?
Would you mind holding that expression. And close your eyes, I have a surprise for you...MisterM2402 said:
OK, that sounds more correct actually. I withdraw my statement.WaysideMaze said:Not really. Saints row is an insanity simulator that features gangs. The OP seems to be after something a little (or a lot) more grounded.Thaliur said:is that not really close to Saints' Row?
Took the words right out of my mouth.llagrok said:I don't think we need additional stuff to reinforce the idiotic gangster image that has already gained so much popularity with the kids. It seems like a cash-in on people who live in the lower-end of the socio-economic strata.
My next idea regarding this was a more lighthearted approach. That would be easier to accept, and to pull off, I imagine. An RPG along the lines of Menace 2 Society would be cool... or rather one along the lines of Don't be a menace to South Central while drinking your juice in the hood? hmmmmm. There is a huge potential for hilarity. I think the latter would be a more feasible game to make.Spitfire said:Took the words right out of my mouth.llagrok said:I don't think we need additional stuff to reinforce the idiotic gangster image that has already gained so much popularity with the kids. Having said that, I think that a "ghetto" RPG would be absolutely hilarious if it would be done as a parody. I can see having to use my "Haul Ass" ability in order to evade the overpowered "Po-po's". Let's not even get into what the conversation options would be. The possibilities are endless.
The Polish Ghetto idea sounds like a really good idea too.Pegghead said:Yeah, you could really convey the struggles of the Jews of occupied Pola-oh...that ghetto.
In all seriousness, it sounds like a great idea, like a super in-depth version of San Andreas.
While I could see it as ammo for the anti-gaming advocates, I'll support any RPG that goes beyond the standard medieval fntasy or sci-fi settings (well, goes beyond those settings and is a good game in-of-itself).
Ah this discussion reminds me of that old arcade game Narc. Run down scummy drug pushers in your converted Porsche or reduce them to a pile of cinders and disembodied limbs with the rocket launcher; but kids, "say no to drugs!"chuckman1 said:If I can enslave somebody in fallout 3 and I can shoot hundreds of civillians in MW2 why not be able to cook up some rock in Ghettoblivion I'd say gaming already has worse stuff as the norm in mant games.distortedreality said:Beat me to it.The_Blue_Rider said:San Andreas is about as close as we'll ever to get to a big release game anywhere near this
Also, lol at the chance of game involving -Yeah. Not gonna happen.chuckman1 said:...buy cocaine and baking soda and cook it up and sell it, learn to cook meth, all sorts of things in the ghetto you learn a lot of things.
