I've just been a Green Lantern fan for some time, so I have to know stuff like this. XD As per who protects them, it's never really stated where they go when not in use if I recall correctly XD

I wish that I could Plane Walk at will to locations of my choice and I arrive safely and in the situation where the location is unsafe a protective barrier forms around me until either A) I dispell it or B) I'm safe, and by Plane Walk I am referring to MtG Planewalking.... And the barrier allows oxygen in and CO2 out but protects from air-born pathogens.
