Oh, and for the record, if this is true, I'd like to express a bit of disappointment in Namco Bandai. I realize that the Assassin's Creed series is a big hit among the unwashed masses, but there are far more viable cameo options out there.
BURN THE HERETIC!!!

*ahem*

I really, really hope this is true. Ezio is a perfect fit for Soul Caliber, certainly a better option than Star Wars characters, Spawn or, yes, Megaman.

Well, Ezio appearing wouldn't ruin the flow of things nearly as much as one of the Star Wars characters, since he seems quite a reasonable fit. As much as I didn't mind the Star Wars characters too much, clicking on 'random stage' and having my two swordsmen suddenly fighting in a giant spaceship was quite disconcerting. Personally, I think this is just a rumour and little more, but suppose it would be a nice little addition. To be honest, I don't really care, since the gigantic cast reshuffling is of more interest to me. I'm hoping they pull it off well and it still remains an enjoyable fighting game (instead of doing a 'Scrubs' where it feels like a random project has just stolen the name and setting of the one you loved).
Although, Soul Calibur, if you want my eternal love; make a deal with Square Enix and get some FF characters in there. I will give you my bank details, just do it.

That's the best way you could describe Ezio? Really?

As awesome as that would be, my eye was drawn to a character pic on the character select screen. The one I saw was 3 left and, 1 down from Ezio's portrait and reminds me of Simon Belmont.

I'm wondering who they'll take as an exclusive crossover fighter for the Ps3 and Vita versions.

What? Every other series is doing it - make it Sly Cooper and have him use his cane. Like you said, fits as well as Yoda.
Who said he's going to be the 360 exclusive?
No-one. Because there aren't 360 exclusive characters. Just Playstation exclusive characters. MK - Ps3 got Kratos, no 360 character. Street Fighter X Tekken - Cole McGrath and Toro & Kuro. Again, no 360 exclusive character. That seems to be the recent trend.
There will be one this game. 360 fans will be turned off and daishi will have a lot to answer to if there isnt. and tahts not exactly something he wants to do at the helm of his first ship while hes trying to look good enough to captain four+ more.
I don't see there being a 360 exclusive character since there aren't many big-name characters on the 360 alone who would fit the context of a fighting game well. Arguably, Marcus Fenix but he doesn't really have a melee weapon unless someone gives him a Lancer but takes away the ammo clip. Also, Ezio's game is a multiplatform one so it would make more sense for him to appear on every version of Soul Caliber 5.

Personally, I had my fingers crossed for Mega Man. Thanks to the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken Namco Bandai and Capcom are on pretty good terms of late, and it's not like the Blue Bomber has anything else going on [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/111745-Capcom-Kills-Mega-Man-Legends-3], right?
Mega Man? Really? You don't see any thematic disconnect there? Ezio Auditore has you disappointed but Mega Man would have you excited? What the Unholy Balls, man?

If you're going to have a cameo character in a historical fiction setting, it makes sense to have another historical fiction character. That's why Vader, Yoda, Starkiller, Spawn, and to a sightly lesser extent Heihachi were all incredibly out of place additions. Link kind of almost fits, thematically. I was actually pretty jazzed that they chose Kratos to cameo in Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, even though I don't have a PSP, just because it was a guest character that actually made some kind of sense. Although the end of the Rennaisance is a time period far removed from ancient Greek mythology, it was a big step in the right direction. I hadn't really considered it before, but Ezio is quite possibly the most appropriate guest character for Soul Calibur in the realm of gaming. If you had told me when this game was announced that I would be excited about the guest character in Soul Calibur V, I would have punched you in the face. And now I'd have to apologize to you.

Assuming it's true. It's almost too good to be true.

Actually, that's Hilde, the armored chick with the pike and dagger introduced in the last game. Your comment got me curious though, and I scanned the rest of the pic and the only character I can't readily identify is the dude immediately to Ezio's right.

I'm also not entirely sure who the girl two to his left, between glam-ninja-girl and Z.W.E.I. is supposed to be. Kinda looks like it could be Talim. Or, if the Soul Calibur Wiki is to be believed, it might be Xianghua's daughter.

I agree. I was lucky enough to have had the GC version of SC II because Link was a very fun addition, despite not fitting in 100%. I'm not a big AC fan by any stretch, but Ezio makes for an appropriate addition considering what we're dealing with. Compared to Vader and Yoda, it's a MAJOR improvement.

If they had additional cameo characters, I wouldn't mind seeing Kratos. I am terrible at fighting games, but even so, SC II was a blast and SC V already sounds a lot better just knowing there won't be any Star Wars references (as of yet). So Kratos in the mix would be an extra bit of cool. I would wonder who the 360 character would be, though, and I would hope it would be not even venture near Gears or Halo territory.

Why do people keep talking about console exclusive characters? The Assassin's Creed series has been on the 360 and the PS3. And the PC, DS, PSP, and even cell phones. There's no logical reason for Ezio to not appear on both the PS3 and the 360 versions of SCV. Kratos, Cole McGrath, Toro and Karo are all Sony-exclusive characters, which is why they didn't make it on the 360, although it's pretty weird there was nobody to balance things out on the 360 version of Mortal Kombat. As far as Street Fighter x Tekken, that game's not even due out until the middle of next year. Anything can happen before then. According to this interview, the door isn't completely closed on the matter.

Assuming Ezio is even a sure-thing, I agree to think that he'd 99% be on both consoles. But in addition, if they did have console specific characters, it would be interesting to see who. Like I said, I didn't play SC IV, but I thought that each console got the Apprentice, despite having Vader on the PS3 and Yoda on the 360 exclusively. If they had Kratos announced (to use my earlier example), then there would be a 99% chance he would not be on the 360, leaving who the 360's character to be a mystery. Comparatively, this would leave Etzio in the middle ground for SC V like the Apprentice (I think) was to SC IV.

Without sounding like a dick, you do realize that it wasn't the MC in Soul Caliber right? T'was in fact a female spartan. Think it was Kelly!

But OT, sounds pretty cool. I've only just got round to playing AC2. Enjoying it quite a lot so far!
Actually it wasn't that either. The female spartan made a cameo in Dead or Alive 4.

There has not yet been any Halo/Soulcalibur crossover.
Yeah, i knew it was a female spartan, but i couldnt be arsed to go and look up the name that i had forgotten, i also remembered that the spartan was originally meant to be masterchief but it was changed. and yeah... i obviously don't have any knowledge of fighting games... :(

:D
If anyone still cares, Nicole-458 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dead_or_Alive_characters#Nicole-458] was the Spartan character in DOA 4.

His only attack would be a counter...
Where's the fun in that?

and stabbing. Also, what the heck's wrong with using altair? he fits the game much more than ezio with his bland personality
Hey Moses :3

There is nothing wrong with using Altair or Ezio. It's just a common joke since the combat (as most people do it) consists of countering with the hidden blade ;)

Not meaning to sound like a pedo, but Sophitia's daughter looks hot.
She was 3 years old when the last game ended, the new game is set 17 years after that. So she's 20 and you're so not a pedo. Lech away my friend, lech away.

What I am personally hoping for are guest weapons. In particular, the Sword of Moonlight for Siegfried.
Oh my, is this a demon's souls reference?

I'd like to see Dragonslayer myself for Siggy.

]I woulda thought Warner Brothers would be more worried about offending the 360 crowd than Namco. Think about it - Mortal Kombat goes far more into the blood and guts juvenile appeal than Soul Calibur -therefore, it would be more likely to try to appeal more top the 360 crowd.
Ah yeah. Coming off as super mature yourself here. "The other guys are all kids." It's like playing World of Warcraft all over again.

For the record Platform exclusives for multiform fighting games are a bad idea. They're usually trash characters anyway and almost always tournament banned because half the player base has never seen them.

If this is true, I am going to take a shot at what they might do for his story mode. That Soul Edge is The Sword, a Piece of Eden, and that the people trying to stop him from destroying it, in his mind are Templars. Then again it might be something different.

Got my wires a little crossed there.

That is a shame, it would have been a nice surprise if I was wrong and she also showed up in Soul Calibur.

Oh well, you can't lose them all (lol).

Is anyone but me more excited for the fact that Sophitia's daughter is going to be in Soul Calibur V? And anyone who knows the story of Soul Calibur IV knows that she was stolen by the evil guys... making me hope she has some awesome demonic powers (Dante?).

Neat, I'll never buy the game, but whatever.

What we need is a fighter with every single video game character ever.

Can we stop ding these shitty unbalanced cross overs? I hope to god that this is just a rumour and won't be confirmed as I am getting annoyed at these I mean Heihachi for the PS 2 was one thing but the Star Wars was a step too far. Resources grossly misspent on what could have been a real new character and playstyle that could stay in the series.
