I sincerely hope that last sentence about Mega Man was a joke. It's bad enough to have 70% of the MvC playing populace crying for him and jizzing all over that Days of Future Past stage.

There should be a game a la soulcalibur and super smash bros. which has EVERY character from EVERY game all able to fight each other so you can finally find out who would win in a fight between, say, superman and yoda, or between link and ezio... that would be a game I would love to buy.

Adding recognizable characters helps sell the game. They can sell more units if Assasin's Creed fans buy the game because they like the character of Ezio. Without the guest characters, I am not convinced that Soul calibur games could exist.
Quite frankly, in my opinion, it'd be better to not exist anymore then become this mess.

Sounds awesome, far better fit than master chief or yoda
Without sounding like a dick, you do realize that it wasn't the MC in Soul Caliber right? T'was in fact a female spartan. Think it was Kelly!

But OT, sounds pretty cool. I've only just got round to playing AC2. Enjoying it quite a lot so far!
Actually it wasn't that either. The female spartan made a cameo in Dead or Alive 4.

There has not yet been any Halo/Soulcalibur crossover.
Yeah, i knew it was a female spartan, but i couldnt be arsed to go and look up the name that i had forgotten, i also remembered that the spartan was originally meant to be masterchief but it was changed. and yeah... i obviously don't have any knowledge of fighting games... :(

:D
Nicole - 451 was the female spartan in DoA 4, and she isn't in the Halo expanded universe canon, most of the surviving spartan-II's were numbered around the early 100s

As a fan of Halo, and someone who utterly detests fighting games, I can only say that the experience left a sour taste in my mouth... except for Nicole's epic move where you take out a plasma grenade and stick it to a part of your enemy... specifically their nuts
Oh and the Grunt punt, which looks hilarious

Seems awesome to me, and as for why they won't use Altair i can only imagine it's because they'd probably have a largely same fighting style except Altair is less of an icon.

I for one welcome him into SC5 so long as the game itself manages to do good.

I LOL'd That's actually a damned great description.
I saw this yesterday in a forum thread here, and will repeat what I said there. This is a perfect match and I'm all for it. Unlike Star Wars...
I don't get all the people saying he's a bad fit. They've previously said that this new SC will focus more on quick, close quarter combat. Ezio would fit perfectly with that, plus he's got a varied arsenal which is always necessary in fighting games. How much do you wanna bet that the new bombs will be a special move?

If they had additional cameo characters...
Assuming Ezio is even a sure-thing, I agree to think that he'd 99% be on both consoles. But in addition, if they did have console specific characters, it would be interesting to see who. Like I said, I didn't play SC IV, but I thought that each console got the Apprentice, despite having Vader on the PS3 and Yoda on the 360 exclusively. If they had Kratos announced (to use my earlier example), then there would be a 99% chance he would not be on the 360, leaving who the 360's character to be a mystery. Comparatively, this would leave Etzio in the middle ground for SC V like the Apprentice (I think) was to SC IV.
Whoops. Reading comprehension fail on my part. Although I would say my question is still relevant to the other guy I quoted. You're right about Vader and Yoda, although they eventually were released as DLC for the other system, which is pretty ridiculous. Sorta makes you wonder why they even bothered with console exclusivity in the first place.

I was thinking about this, and the 360 doesn't seem to have a lot of exclusives that don't take place in futuretimes. I really don't know who they would even use to balance out the PS3 exclusive characters in Street Fighter vs Tekken. Given the goofinss of the game thus far, I wouldn't be surprised to see an Idolm@ster girl or that weird slaryman mascot with the Xbox logo for a head Microsoft had for a while. Who knows?

But obviously neither would make sense for SCV. *shrug*

Eh, I thought Heihachi and Yoshimitsu were good fits back in SCII. We'll see if Ezio can fit as well. I won't knock it 'til I've tried it.

Y'know at the rate guest characters are being introduced I'm kinda curious why some guy just hasn't modded all of the guest characters in to one game? Lord knows he'd have a decent cast.

Hey, no problem. :)

Who knows about Xbox and exclusive characters. If they go for any of their main IPs, they're pulling characters completely out of place from any that I can think of off the top of my head, so it is interesting to wonder. As others have surely stated, how are you going to fit Marcus Fenix into the time period, let alone his "fighting style?" Looking back at SCII, the Xbox character didn't have anything really to do with Xbox that I knew of because he was just Spawn. The PS2 character also never seemed too appealing to me, given that he was just a "regular" fighting game crossover character (Perhaps Dante would have been cool since Devil May Cry was exclusive to Sony at the time). When considering Nintendo's overall lineup of unique characters, Link was the one of the only widely well known and appropriate characters due to his combative style that actually could match a weapons-fighting game. Ezio or Altair can more easily fit into the SC parameters considering they're fighting, yup, guys with swords. They are also armed with proper weapons and aren't from a horror movie!

Now that you mention the DLC Yoda/Vader, I am curious whether or not there is even more incentive to have console unique characters to later sell off as DLC to the appropriate console. If you already designed one character, what is the trouble of adding it later to the same game on a different console, especially with bonus cash? It also incentivizes multiple purchases by the same consumer for different consoles if they are to be so eager (not a big market, but still something). I'll give credit for fairness, too, by at least relinquishing the exclusivity on the characters after enough time has passed.

Maybe its just me being a big Assassin's Creed and Soul Calibur fanboy, but allow me to just say, OMG I'M SO EXCITED! But whats to stop Ezio from playing as crap as the Star Wars characters? Still I'm looking forward to Soul Calibur V mostly because its Soul Calibur V.

Ugh, can we not just make a Soul Caliber with the Soul Caliber cast? Even MK is doing it now... Freddy, really? As much as I love Star Wars, those things were a wreck last time. Just make the game, use your characters, and make it good.

Edit: If you are going to add guest characters, do it all the way like Marvel vs Capcom. 1 or 2 characters just feels out of place.
Ezio actually fits the time frame and theme so he doesn't clash with the game like the Star Wars characters did. It's the only guest character aside from Link that didn't bother me.
