Seriously? How can you turn this into a MMO? It's one ~dead~ city, there's no possibility for MMO in there.
There was a period in the game universe when it wasn't a dead city. A Rapture-set MMO sounds pretty cool to me.
I agree, wasnt always dead, and if they set it during the Rapture civil war I could see alot of potential in it as far as MMO's go.

IT seems the marketsa re been flooded with them at the moment, but im not against the principle.

Execution is always something else

What ever happened to the Bioshock Movie? I can't be the only one who wanted to see that get made.

No. Please don't.

A city isn't an appropriate setting for an MMO. It can only be a heavily instanced shooter type MMO, like Global Agenda. Global Agenda has this one main hub called the Dome City where players congregate, everything else is instanced*. It works, its fun, but instancing is bothersome and it feels disconnected and doesn't give you a sense of place.

*Judged by a demo version. I'm not sure if conquest mode is instanced, and I'm not sure if i wanna buy it. >.<

I'm not sure it would work as an MMO. There isn't even online multiplayer for Bioshock 1 or 2... It might not be a good idea.

I'd probably try it, but with BioShock 2 being buggy and hell, and the multiplayer... ugh... not even going there... I'm not gonna plan on buying it without a trial or demo.

Are you kidding me?
This is as bad as the Fallout MMO.

Not every franchise has to be turned into an MMO, people. You won't be World of Warcraft, you won't beat World of Warcraft, you don't have to try and steal their pie.

Geez. What's next? A Mario MMO?
Count me out.

I completely agree, start in a pre-downfall rapture and have the original release play there, then the expansions could be planned to move through various phases of Raptures downfall. although it would end up with a lifespan because it wouldnt work anyomore after the downfall was complete....does this work or am I too much of an MMO newb?

How would a Bioshock MMO work exactly?
The only thing I could think of would be to be a splicer and to fight other splicers or gang up with other splicers to fight a big daddy.
But, Bioshock 2's multiplayer allows you to battle a big dadddy and splicers, so I still don't see how thing could work.

Ok, are you saying that if there is no chance that they can beat WoW, it shouldn't be released? I really hope not being that is the stupidest logic I've ever heard. It is going to be near impossible for a game to have a bigger launch than MW2 now, but does that mean companies should stop releasing games? I mean, what is the point if they aren't going to be the biggest, right?

The idea of a BioShock MMO actually sounds more entertaining than the typical goblins and fairies MMO's. I would be playing Fallen Earth if the controls didn't suck.

True, but isn't the market already quite saturated? MMOs don't work like regular games. Most users only pay for one MMO at a time, so it's far easier to get to the point where nobody is actually looking for a new MMO. When a new one comes out, people might flock to it for a month, but then go back to their established games. The fact that most high-profile MMOs that came out in the last few years have been reduced to niche titles after the first month or two, or have closed down entirely should give developers a hint that making an MMO isn't a way to get tons of money, it's a great way to LOSE money...

Oh god no. Bioshock 2 was bad enough. Please stop before the franchise is deprived of what it once had with bioshock 1

I feel the strength of Bioshock has always been its storytelling, and there isn't much possibility for a tight story in an MMO.
I was actually quite depressed when I heard 2K was contracred for 5 Bioshock games. At that point, you're just cashing in on past glories.

Ss got about as much chance as floating a Rapture.

They're gonna need to multiply the context of both the city and the people in it by a factor of a bazillion before a decent MMO (that it deserves) is even feasible.
