I'm sorry, Sweden, but you're not as cool as you've used to be...
Still, you're in the top 10 anyways. Go Sweden!
OT: I think it's a bit silly to ban a game. Seriously, they should have just edit the game in Sweden, saying the youngsters are over 18. Cause I'm pretty sure they look over 18.

Wait. Kasumi and Ayane and STILL under 18? How many Dead or Alive games have there been now? What, are these tournaments all taking place back to back? Some of these moves you can pull off should take several months to recover from, so how are they able to move straight on to the next one with no recovery time? You'd also think that it would take several months to set up each tournament. And what about DoA Beach Volleyball? Didn't they spend at least a month there between the three games that are out? Clearly they should have had a least two birthdays each by now. The timeline in this series makes no sense.

So Sweden doesn't respect that other countries have different ages for consent. Enlightening.

Just give it to the Westernization board they'll change those arbitrary numbers to something more suitable to us backwards primitive western nations.

I love that this is the game where you can have a big muscle man kick the shit out of a 15 year old and their only complaint is that she's too sexy.

1) That the manga collector was convicted only serves to show us that the people within our legal system are grossly incompetent, as they obviously don't understand why child porn laws exist to begin with. (Hint: it's not to protect fictional characters from abuse.) They bring shame on our otherwise very liberal nation.

2) This piece of news clearly shows that the people working at Bergsala (whom I already found incompetent) don't understand what pornography is. Modelling is not porn.

Come on, Sweden, you're not Australia...I'm disappointed in you. Why must 'porn' refer to everything implicitly sexual? Hell, it's not even implicitly sexual unless you try for it.

Arg...I am not amused by laws being so loose that they have the potential to be all-encompassing.

Took the words right off of my keyboard friend.

Still gotta' wonder why they don't just swap out the second digits in their ages for a '9,' one would assume that would make this a non-issue (not that is wasn't before, but you know what I mean).

And as I understand it its not Sweden that have forbidden the game company to release the games in Sweden, I understand it more to be that they do not want to risk it and then get associated with kiddie porn

Btw mikeyfell you are allowed to have sex in Sweden if you are 15+

Makes sense. You know people are going to rule34 them, best to make it clear you've got nothing to do with it, rather than face the shitstorm.
Except that living in fear of Rule 34 is no way to live. CYA is one thing, but letting crazy people dictate your actions is horrible.

Well, I'm not so sure to be honest. Putting an almost naked girl into certain poses and taking a picture is definitely STRADDLING the line. Hehe. Seriously though, they may have a point.

This... coming from Sweden?
Do you by any chance want to elaborate on that?

Our age of consent is 15, mind you. Pornographic representation, however, is 18.

Uhh...

I have a question.

What exactly is this "Figure Mode" for?

Because, given DOA's reputation, I think the developers put it in there for that exact purpose.

Our age of consent is 15, and I doubt they have characters younger than that in fighting games. I also doubt there are many countries out there which allow pornography of people under 18, which is what it's actually about (though in animated form).

It's quite possible this wouldn't have been a problem at all, but now we'll never know. And it is a bit odd that they chose to make the characters under 18 since I'm going to assume they realized this wasn't impossible. I mean, I doubt they're well below 18 so it doesn't seem like it'd matter much.

Also, "much of Sweden"? I hadn't even heard of it so I doubt there are very many who have to calm down over it.

Why not just retcon the story and say they're all 18, 19, 20. Though that might rurin what I'm sure is a deep and complex story line that is typical of fighting games.

This is a little stupid. As far as I'm concerned it's only pedophilia if they look underage and it's only wrong if real kids are involved.

I think this was really odd... Because if you look at Swedish made movies for children at least in the classic have full frontal child nudity...

"This potentially puts these underaged characters into a "pornographic situation," which could violate the Swedish law."

Underaged? *They do not exist*
And like you said "because 3 characters (who don't look underage by any stretch of the imagination),... have arbitrary numbers under 18 attached to them.".

I never would call these three "children", not by any stretch of my imagination!

And how about leaving the stupid posing and photographing out of all versions accept the Japanese one, as they are the only ones obsessed with that. Would not impact gameplay, so hurry up and do it!
