The stupid. It hurts. Why would Sweden do this? Can't they just continue using the ESRB like any semi normal people?
And as I understand it its not Sweden that have forbidden the game company to release the games in Sweden, I understand it more to be that they do not want to risk it and then get associated with kiddie porn

"This potentially puts these underaged characters into a "pornographic situation," which could violate the Swedish law."

Those characters look nothing like pornstars who had a few boob-jobs too many.
They're obviously under 18.

Why did they make them underage to begin with?
It seems that that if you are going to sell a game on sex appeal but don't want it associated with kiddy porn you shouldn't put minors in it(or at least change the ages for releases outside of Japan).

So Sweden doesn't respect that other countries have different ages for consent. Enlightening.
Our age of consent is 15, and I doubt they have characters younger than that in fighting games. I also doubt there are many countries out there which allow pornography of people under 18, which is what it's actually about (though in animated form).

It's quite possible this wouldn't have been a problem at all, but now we'll never know. And it is a bit odd that they chose to make the characters under 18 since I'm going to assume they realized this wasn't impossible. I mean, I doubt they're well below 18 so it doesn't seem like it'd matter much.

Also, "much of Sweden"? I hadn't even heard of it so I doubt there are very many who have to calm down over it.
The funny thing is that the DOA series had its debut 15 years ago so all those underage characters should be in their 30's now anyway.

Our age of consent is 15, mind you. Pornographic representation, however, is 18.
I find it odd that there's a difference.
Is is just so they can sell porn to different countries?

1. Drive out of country, purchase game.
OR
2. Import game with $5 extra shipping.

Problem solved.

It's not going to end there, what with simply changing the date of age on the lasses.
The femiNAZIS in Sweden will rage if it's released anyways.

Ludicrous? Than, you've never been to Sweden my friend!

I wish more developers would take this stance. Maybe when the people get tired of their government fucking them for no reason, they'll stand up and demand change. Change that is actually 10x more sensible than what the idiots were currently doing, like child porn charges on FAKE DRAWN CHILDREN.

It doesnt say anywhere that Sweden decided to ban this game.

Your sense and maturity to enjoy sex arrives before your sense of world-wide recognition through a morally grey media.

I don't blame them for being paranoid. I mean, recently a translator of manga got arrested for housing "child pornography". He owned some comics, no real photos or anything. And he lost the case!

This is pretty much the most fucked up law we have in Sweden...

Only if it's actually banned, which it isn't. The publisher has apparently decided not to release it Scandinavia, but that's not the same thing as any of those countries' governments imposing restrictions on the game itself. Especially when it comes to a game that so obviously isn't pornographic in nature.

I really don't get why Koei is taking this stance. If you've seen the artbook for Calamity Trigger, you've seen things far racier than a paper doll mode.

Fuck. This. Shit.

I have a burning and unending hate for laws that prohibit pornographic representations of underage characters. Particularly when the characters are "underage".

It scares me, to be honest. Makes me afraid of ending up in some dystopian future.

Express and understand away, by all means.
But, it had nothing to do with my post.

I pointed out something entirely different. What with, even if Sweden would be more open to buy the game in with little restrictions to CP washed away by simple digit editing, the feminists would rage and moan over this, as they tend to.
And whatever happens after that... Who knows.

Well name one thing that feminist doesn't rage and moan over?

But I get your point.

Easy fix change the numbers from under 18 to over 18.
Exactly, just SAY they're older for the European release.
Even for Sweden, that's cold
Lol climate joke. I think...

OT: Fine I guess I'll comment so I don't get nailed for low content. I think is a bit silly, but I guess it's understandable. From the developer's point of view, no one wants to get into that kind of legal issue. From the country's point of view, you can't start going off making exceptions for people because once exceptions are made you open the door wide open. Better to stick to your guns, no matter how small the issue seems.

This is true. But its not like the game would be held in postage because it hasn't officially been banned.
