Maybe it's the fact I've played Neverwinter Nights but..am i the only one slightly excited by this? I mean, ok if it's JUST PVP then it's going to suck donkey balls BUT but...if they do go ahead and make a Neverwinters Nights style of Multiplayer for this, creatable servers and all, then it could be quite interesting and lead to alot of fun.

Jesus people why are you so upset about a multiplayer option you're not even forced to play?

Wow, Bioware, really? Get the fuck of of this multiplayer track you're on and make a good single player game. Skyrim proved to the entire industry that a single player game can do exceedingly well without any sort of multiplayer.

It isn't EA at this point. This is Bioware being retarded all on its own.

I'm guessing I'm the only person who kinda likes the idea.

Its built on Frostbite 2.
A PvP arena won't impact any SP.
YOU CAN PLAY AS A DRAGON.

Like ME3, I'd rather it stayed SP only but I'm not gonna go ballistic about something I know next to nothing about and has yet to be confirmed by Bioware.
I kind of like it too.

I mean, assuming it's neither mandatory nor nothing but PvP. If you and your Internet Friends can team up and do stuff together and admire each other's sexy custom characters, that would be fun. It would be like your companions were all played by real people.

If it's nothing but PvP, I will probably ignore it. But playing as a dragon and ruining everyone else's day might still be fun.

If it's mandatory (which it almost certainly won't be), then it would be a bad idea.

I mean seriously, are people who enjoy playing games with their friends from time to time in the minority?

Bioware, I know that you wanted to reach out to the Call of Duty market with DA2, but that kinda fell flat on its face. Adding multiplayer will no make them come crawling to you, there is nothing you can do that will make them crawl to you. There is a reason why it's the Call of Duty crowd, not the Call of Duty and Some Other Games crowd.

Bioware are really going this multiplayer route. I expect TOR to simply be the first MMO of their series. DA and ME will most likely follow.

Honestly I was disappointed in both DA:O and ME2, I was expecting KOTOR or NWN level customization and I just didn't feel like there was much progression, the tech trees felt lacking.
I wouldn't blame Bioware. Bioware wants to make traditional RPG's with one or two quirks just to set them apart.

We blame EA for the surge in multi-player in games that don't want or need it.
Good point, it's true that multiplayer improves the extendability of a title and the publisher would be interested in this.
I stand by my disapproving of Bioware's decision in the skills department. There is much less versatility in they're later games. KOTOR and NWN had so many interesting feats and abilities within each class that creating your build was an integral part of the experience and changed the gameplay as you progressed. Recent games have been more of the ilk of choose your path, here's what you are.
They've continued their high quality of writing and world building but that aspect of customisation was one of my favorites and without it combat is less exciting for me and combat accounts for a large part of the game.
I suppose by adding multiplayer perhaps they may focus in on the choice and customisation aspects in regards to skills to keep that interesting so that maybe a shining light. More likely though that I'll move backwards through their catalog as they have plenty of games already which will satisfy my needs when it comes to character building.

Bioware really are a bunch of sellouts. If this is true I think I might pass on the game. Not that that would be the only reason considering it's published by EA.

I like multi-player and want to see it in more RPG's. However, arena based multi-player is a fail.

What I want is co-op.

I was fairly impressed with Dragon Age: Origins even if it was a more generic RPG than earlier titles like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights.

To be fair, however, a lot of the feats and such that you see in those games were created by Wizards of the Coast through their Dungeons and Dragons tabletop games, and not by Bioware, who actually snipped quite a few out and altered a few so they would work of the context of an active-combat-style RPG video game.

Jesus Christ calm down. I remember everyone crying their eyes out at the idea of ME multiplayer, but the moment they announced how it would work there was a chorus of "Oh...ok, that sounds cool" So stop your pants from getting in a bunch and lets WAIT and SEE.

Its like Bioware doesn't want my money. First Origin (which granted, is EA's doing), then Dragon Age 2 playing so poorly, then DLC galore for Mass Effect 2 which I still don't see an Ultimate Edition for, followed by multiplayer in Mass Effect 3, and finally a rumoured player vs player mode in Dragon Age.

I'm sorry Bioware. I loved Mass Effect, KOTOR, Dragon Age, Jade Empire and Baldur's Gate but it's time.

I have to file for divorce.

It's not me... It's you.

We've moved beyond "unnecessary" into the realm of "detrimental".

This is RIGHT along with EA's new management shift, the same morons that have said they want a Dead Space FPS and an Uncharted Dead Space because "FPS and Uncharted sold more than Dead Space". Seriously. They almost cancelled Dead Space 3.

Has Skyrim taught this industry NOTHING? A game with tacked-on multiplayer, no online pass, no excessive on-disc DLC, no 'cut it for DLC' missions or characters.... ARGH.

Ya, no... After DA 2 failed to live up to my expectations I have pretty much given up on the franchise, and adding in unnecessary multiplayer is not going to help.

EA is going to shoehorn multiplayer into every game now cause people are dumb enough to pay for it. The same reason is why SWTOR is an MMO and not a single player game (Despite being made exactly like a single player game); because people are dumb enough to pay for it.

Also, this if course means they'll strip out time and space that should be going into single-player, to fit in multiplayer crap, just like they're doing to ME3. If you are actually offended by this prospect, I hope you'll actually show some conviction and NOT BUY IT.

Ya know, I love how every year my not-giving-a-shit about nearly every AAA title saves me hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars and loads of heartbreak. If anyone needs me, I'll be playing my PS2.

For fucks sake people can't you wait to freak out before we know this is true?
once it's confirmed that it will have multiplayer, and besides maybe they will take the ME3 way of developing a MP by giving it to another BioWare studio or maybe it will be DLC and Neverwinter Nights had multiplayer too and it was a pretty damned awesome game with a rich single-player experience so shut up

Also, I almost forget if this is true then you get to play as a fucking dragon in the Frostbite 2 engine
and it seems I'm one of the few people who thinks that is fucking awesome!
