Ah, some actual -original- content after having strectched out the re-re-re-re-re-release of the existing movies as far as they could have?
While I do not know how much influence George Lucas had during filming Episode 4, I think it is important to know that another director was hired to shoot the Empire Strikes Back and the Return of the Jedi. I have no idea how George himself would have done it, but the one he hired sure knew how to make solid sequels, which enabled the Star Wars franchise to survive.
When I think about it, George only seemed to have made a few movies independently. One of which sparked a global phenomenom. If anyone is to direct these potentially upcoming movies, it should not be him. Or atleast... he could have the work be made in a more collaborative manner.
But in the end, I would not keep my hopes up. Lucas Arts prioritizes short-term profit alot more than artistic value worth remembering.
