I think I read something years back about George wanting to do 3 trilogies, but decided to do 2 instead. But really, there's no need for another trilogy.

This. Unless George watches every one of those Redlettermedia videos and takes his criticism to heart, these new stories are going to be nothing more than new opportunities for toys.

But wasn't the universe expanded in books? There are dozens of books talking about twhat happens before and after, even with leia and han's children! How will he do this? He'll need to follow the books or make them moot after they've been out for years
Sure, it was, but you don't have to focus on Leia and Han's children, nor must there be any attention paid to any lineage from the original or second trilogies. Granted, with Jedi and Sith, you may have to touch on past history, he could focus on a completely different storyline. There are many, many more people in the Star Wars Universe than the small fraction we've been introduced to.

But we already know what happened after the Return of the Jedi, due to the Expanded Universe (I must say, some EU stories are really good), but even if we didn't know what happens, I'd be skeptic, since it's been a while and he must know that the fan backlash will be really bad.

As long as they're good like ep. 4, and not crap like 1,2,3 It's fine by me. And please: don't milk the movies with franchizes like the current ones... It draines away the FUN.

I find the very idea of this profane. Is it okay to report the news post?
I had a good long laugh at both of these.

Hats off to you, Gents.

I'd love to see a movie based around Rogue or Wraith Squadron if only to see characters rely on their wits instead of lightsaber combos.

If they gotta have Jedi, it oughta involve Knights of the Old Republic or Saba Sebatyne. I'll take either one.

Best would be to have something original and new, or at least something different. I have some hopes for this, not high hopes, but some. If the rumors are true.
Oh my God, you gave me an idea. A Republic Commando movie!
OT: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars, but I love the original trilogy. Still good fun, yet, there's not one ounce of excitement in me for this. I guess the new trilogy have me left me indifferent to the franchise when it comes to film.

Correction: What Lucas needs is several kicks to the skull.
I more or less agree. He's got ideas, but he's to busy trying to stuff his stories with as much as can at the cost of interesting dialogue and plot. They don't have to be amazing, George. Just good fun, that's all I ask.

eh, I'd be happy if Star Wars was finally allowed to die.

That being said it was an important part of my childhood (and I'm talking ORIGINAL trilogy here folks) and I do still harbor fond memories of the original trilogy, but I'm more then a little sick of George crapping out more Star Wars themed half-baked crap and watching the public at large lap at the steaming pile, all the while telling him he's a god for continuing something that was best ended 10+ years ago.

NO. WAY.

Lucas, don't you fucking dare bastardize Star Wars. Stop it! Leave it alone! Leave Star Wars alone!

I sense a great disturbance in the force. As if millions of fans cried out in terror.

And just like that, every Star Wars Novel is rendered completely non-canon.

Ha.
*Hi Five

The Clone Wars is actually a decent show and the battles in the movie were awesome. So I'll have to say:

"Don't fuck up the book canon and make it good."

The first movie in the prequels was the worst of the entire series, but still entertaining. The other two I still thought were very good. I'm not on this bandwagon. More Star Wars? Yes, sir. Please.

Give us some Thrawn!
Heh, I actually prefered the first movie, mainly because it had less green screen than the others, it had Liam Neeson, it had Darth Maul and it lacked Emo Anakin, whom I found a lot more annoying than Kid Anakin.

As for your Thrawn suggestion:
I guess the Yuuzhan Vong invasion would work as well for movie material, or a lot of the older stuff. C'mon Lucas, you can still do it! You just need a little help.

Let?s not ***** and moan but rather come up with convoluted plot theories.

In the future midichorians will be sold as a drug on the street, our hero Lucca will be an undercover space cop. He is a natural force user but does not know it. He is partnered with the new guy a jello blob that sounds like jar jar in helium.

He has a friend who smuggles stuff called Jon who has a small furry friend named chunk-ee. The story will be about Lucca?s secret love for his boss?s sister. Think space Romeo and Juliet but written by a 5 year old on drugs with big lightsaber battles and gun fights.
