Dragon Age was alright, I'm not that fussed about it myself. I'm not much for the D&D style gameplay and mechanics; it's kind of boring, as the combat feels so... Unrewarding and fixed. Yes I know you can plan strategies and tactics to turn a situation into your advantage, but it still seems so utterly set, almost felt like you have no real control over the fight. For once maybe consolification of the series will do it good, at least for me.

Woohoo. Console 'tard FANS. No offence here, but... damn.
Get lost, we don't need your elitism here.
It's not really elitism, consoles have had a long impact on videogames, mostly emphasized on simplification. Simplification has a general tendency to appeal to simple people (At very least in terms of computers). Not to say that it's correct in all cases mind you.

Pointing this out, even crudely as this chap just did: doesn't merit elitism.

But to say that ('we' do not need your elistism here), that could be seen as elitism. =p

Sorry, I couldn't help but point it out. XP

This is just wrong. Here was I, thinking BioWare were good. First they hit us with the Dragon Age dev tools, which were amazing, then they started rolling in those ridiculous DLC, but I said, hey, "We have free tools and we get mods, that's awesome". Then Mass Effect 2 came out with pretty much everything simplified and again they hit us with that DLC crap, but still, I and most of the fanbase went "Hey, why not, they have to make more profit somehow", and now they do this. I'm drifting away from being a fanboy, to openly hating BioWare.
*sigh* Lads, it looks like we only have Blizzard and Valve left.
*resists intense urge to defend Mass Effect 2*

I am curious though, why do you HATE Bioware. In what you said, I can't see anything that would deserve that kind of ire.
No, don't get me wrong, I loved Mass Effect 1 and 2, and DA:O, and I said I'm drifting away, very slowly, I don't hate them... yet.
Addition: I dislike the whole DLC business though.

But... it's an RPG...

(Detailed) RPGs work best on the PC...

I thought the point of a sequel was to add on the last one, not detract from it. All i've heard so far about this games is steps back.

Ah, looks like I misread. My bad.

I'm not entirely sure why everyone is getting their panties in a twist. That doesn't sound so bad.

*sigh* I suppose it makes sense for them but it's a shame... the PC version of DAO was way better AND cheaper... Oh well...
(BTW: I did use the special camera, and it was REALLY helpful in some occasions, especially for area effect spells )

I didn't try any mods for the original game, so I don't really care about the lack of mod support, but if there's no overhead camera it could be terrible to play.

*sigh*

I love Bioware. To me they are what Valve is to most of the people on this forum. I'm not happy to hear this, not happy at all.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not raging or anything, it's just the principle of the thing. I'm sure DA2 will be an awesome game, it's just that I liked my zoomed out camera and I liked knowing that the mods were out there, even if I only used a bare minimum, mostly for game mechanics tweaks.

On the bright side, you can't really "remove" modding from a PC game, especially a single player one, you can just make it harder...

Read the full post. They won't release new mod tools, but they're looking into patching up the tools you have now to match the ones used for DA2. They'll also give you an overhead camera, just not quite as zoomed-out as the one from DA1.

The sky. It isn't falling.

Serious, PC elitists need to stop bitching. Consoles sell more, and companies exist to MAKE MONEY. Let me reiterate, these are companies who need to MAKE MONEY. Considering that so many companies have recently lost money, they need to do that more than ever. Ergo, they go where the consumers are.
You see they'd sell more on the PC if they made the game worth buying. It's like MW2 on the PC, they went from PC roots all the way to where the money was. They were already making millions.

The reason so many people pirate on the PC is because of developers doing things like this. If you remove content and make a "you must be connected to the internet to play this game" style DRM (like they're still trying to force upon us) then people will pirate the game and break this DRM out of principle. Many people would rather sacrifice the £35 than to wait 3 weeks via uTorrent if the game was worth paying for.

If they want to make more money than their already highly lucrative business makes then they're going about it the wrong way.

I can't be bothered to search the BBC website but there's an interesting article on there somewhere about the Video Games Industry being one of few to make a substantial profit last year.

Dropping mod support for PC games is stupid. Awesome mods, like KOTOR's USM are half the reason I buy PC games in the first place.
I agree, nowadays I get PC games based on what cool mods I can find for it.

No mod support= I might give this a pass.

So, BioWare, there you are, loved by your fans and defended beyond reason. You were meant to be one of the last bastions of light within the dark swamps of greedy developers, the one thing (besides Valve) that outshines the others and gives hope to those who trust you.

And then, what?

If this isn't just a rumor, then you've just proven what this fan of yours had feared all along when hearing you teamed up with EA: Things are no longer looking good. You're making money now. And you go where the money is... leaving behind all that was special and joining the grind-fest of all your other fellow developers.

Good luck there. I aint following.

This desearves something special, something Picard.

Exactly, as a PC / Xbox360 gamer there are just games that NEED a toolset, much like Oblivion / Morrowind / Dragon Age: Origins.

Much as I love my console, I would hate to see the arguments to get this on PC quickly fading away like snow underneath the scorching sun. I honestly hope they know what they are doing, DA2 is not really something to get excited about lately.

Though I do want to read GameInformer about this game. Really interested.
Ive played DA:O on both the 360 and PC, and found that, IMHO, it was just 20x better on the PC (same with ME2). I think I see where the PC gamers start pointing fingures at console gamers about games being dumbed down for consoles... still think its all bullshit, but I see where the argument is born.

Why must you listen SO hard to criticism, Bioware? And why must you give in so easily? I didn't play the original DA but was hoping for the true Baldur's Gate experience with top-down and pause'n'play for both PC and consoles. Now this? What the hell! This reminds me of the crappy ammo system implemented in Mass Effect 2 for outta control CalloDooty players who couldn't stop shooting for all of two seconds while their weapon cooled down.
