I simply remember thinking..."Santa Claus' handwriting looks a lot like Mum's for some reason..."
I sort of just figured it out. I was a smart kid.

That was beautiful.
Though he exists in this universe as well. Albeit in a different form.

My mother told me that he isn't real, but I knew that she was lying. >D

I have to pretend for my little brother that he is real. But my 9 year old sister is a snobby little *****, and I'm surprised she hasn't told him yet.

hold your tongue! what manner of heretic would dare say such a thing! Santa not real . . . next you'll tell me that halloween was made famous in it's modern form by candy companies and costume makers! and that easter is a rip off of an old fertility festival! and that christmass was changed to coincide with the winter solstice . . .

oh wait . . .

In second grade, I thought about it logically. It's really hard to convince other eight year olds that a magic person doesn't exist. Which is odd, considering WHERE THE HELL ARE ALL THE OTHER MAGIC PEOPLE?

Also, wtf is up with the Easter Bunny? I mean, Santa Claus is based on St. Nicolas (at least in name and action), but the Easter Bunny is just an abomination. Rabbits don't lay eggs, people.

My mum still pretends he exists even though I'm 18, I have to keep up a charade that I still believe that he exists, bizarrely. Also y'know he wears red because of coca cola, who branded him that way.
Contrary to popular belief, he was actually depicted in red prior to Coca-Cola ads depicting him as such. They just made it popular. Though he was, for the most part, green before they did so.

I believed up until about 9 or 10 when I saw that "Santa's Magic Bells" were actually the pair of dutch bells my grandma got and shook them after we got in bed.

My family was never that into Santa. My brother and I would get little presents "from Santa," but the big ones would always be from our parents or grandparents. Plus some kid told me Santa wasn't real in second grade, so I never believed for that long.

I don't know exactly when I found out that he doesn't exist but I knew that I found out on my own and it didn't affect me in the slightest.

Dude, dont be an asshole, Santa is just something for the kids. Its just a fun myth tied in for christmas and your acting like this is some sinister plot or government conspiracy, chill out dude. But what really irks me is that you have the audacity to label all of us as clueless children when u had it in mind to tell us something that was completely obvious to all of us.

of course santa is real, he is just dead and has a wildly exaggerated legendary status. Saint Nicolas of Turkey was known for giving gifts to all the god-fearing children in the area. all that other junk (reindeers, elves, etc) was attached to him from various pagan traditions, as christians just invented christmas to try and compete with pagan holidays around the same time of year, adopting many of their traditions to try and get some converts. interestingly enough, a great deal of world cultures, often without any knowledge of the traditions of others, have some kind of winter festival, and strangely consistently some form of bearded father christmas figure, whether it be a god attached to it or created solely for that holiday.

so in short, in all likelyhood santa was a godlike alien being who spread tidings and good cheer to human societies in their infancy, then left. over time, we intergrated that magical fatman into our religions and cultures, and eventually arrived at a conglomerate of all our experiences (and coca cola ad campaigns) to get the heavily skewed vision of santa we have today.

When you think about its terrifying.
"Son a big man in a suit will sneak into our house, give you things then fly away on a magic deer"
Why are we not terrifed of him!
Oh right presents.
